Sunday Best and All the Rest

   Well ladies, I have a special treat for you today! No, I'm not getting married or taking my final vows to become a nun...;). Instead, I had the privilege of modeling a beautiful vintage bridal gown. Some time ago, friends of mine came across this dress and thought of me and my blog. They were sweet enough to pass it along to me, and after a shamefully long wait, I am sharing the lovely gown with you!

   Hi all! It's been a couple of weeks, hasn't it? I hope that you have been enjoying a lovely October. I don't know about you, but I seem to know of quite a few birthdays in this part of the month! Last night I dressed up in some eighties duds to help a friend celebrate her 30th birthday...retro-style!

     Hi all! How was your Independence Day? Mine was full of fun and good eats with friends. I have a patriotic outfit to share with you at some point, but guess what!? I'm up to me ears in outfits that I need to post! Of course, this isn't necessarily a problem. ;) For now, we'll just hop in our fashion time machine and take a look at the Regency era.

       It's high time for another historical fashion post! :) Today's time period is what is commonly known as the Georgian era, when England was ruled by the earlier King Georges. My costume study focuses on the late 18th century during the rule of King George the III.

     Greetings, fair ladies! We're about to dust off our time machine and study another era of fashion history. This time, we shall completely leave the modern era as we explore the middle ages. This is one of my favorite eras in history, and I hope that by the time we're done, you'll be as excited about it as I am! The Middle Ages  

   So, I know that I said the 70's was the last decade of the 20th century fashion I would be posting on, but due to popular demand (okay, two people...) I have delved into the world of 80's style! Many thanks go to my Mom for styling my outfits for this post - she went to high school in this era, and therefore qualifies as an expert on the fashion. ;) Put on your baggy sweater and big white shades, and join me for another fun look at a decade of style! 

   Hello all! Our tour through 20th century fashion comes to a close with the decade we are looking into today. However, the series itself has certainly not met its end! From now on we will be digging deeper into history, imitating the looks of earlier centuries. I won't get ahead of myself though - first we must peer into the styles of that wacky decade known as the 70's! 1970's    

   Wow, we've already made it to the 1960's! This sixth decade of fashion that we've explored together is probably the most vibrant and varied we've seen thus far. If all you can think of are hippie clothes, scroll down and you'll see why I like this era! Subcultures, youth movements, and social reform defined the decade. With the changing times came new fashions. Upper class socialites, Mods, and Hippies all had their own distinctive look. What people wore was a reflection of how they viewed life in general.    A girl from the Mod culture might wear a brightly colored A-line dress and jacket with tall boots.    Hello dolls! Are you ready to see more retro fashions? Well, I certainly have some to show you today, so put on your glad rags and let's go back in time! 1950's     There are really many options  when it comes to dressing in 50's inspired fashion. You can wear a dress, a skirt, or even pants. You can put on a sheath dress or a full-skirted frock. You can sport just about any shoe, and have a variety of hairdos to choose from. When coming up with attire for my 50's posts, there were many ideas swirling around!
