   Well ladies, I have a special treat for you today! No, I'm not getting married or taking my final vows to become a nun...;). Instead, I had the privilege of modeling a beautiful vintage bridal gown. Some time ago, friends of mine came across this dress and thought of me and my blog. They were sweet enough to pass it along to me, and after a shamefully long wait, I am sharing the lovely gown with you!

   Hello all! It's the last day of the Bramblewood Thrifted link-up! This day had a special challenge, which was to be vintage inspired. I ended up going for a 1950's look (though it would probably also work for 40's) that has a feminine, yet business-like look.

   Hello all! How are you today? I'm happy because it's raining - a long while has passed since I've heard the beautiful sound of raindrops hitting the pavement. I'm also pleased that my summer outfit photos were done long before the rain started! ;)

        Happy weekend! I've got a special treat for my vintage-loving ladies today. I'll be sharing a glimpse into the mid 20th century through my four antique magazines. This little collection started about two years ago and includes two LIFE magazines from 1946 and 1947, a 1953 edition of HOLIDAY , and a Saturday Evening Post from 1961. They provide an interesting first-hand look at the events, inventions and fashion of a bygone era. So sit back, relax, and head back in time with me.  

      Happy Monday everyone! I hope that you all had a splendid weekend. Today the outfit I'm posting is from the vacation I took a couple of weeks ago. I knew that I wanted to do a retro photo shoot at some point, so I packed my recently acquired vintage "Holiday"  magazine and some red lipstick. Normally, I wouldn't pack something like that on a trip where I was going to be hiking, but hey, a fashion blogger's gotta do what a fashion blogger's gotta do. ;)

         It's Monday. It's the day that greets us with obligations that we have little motivation for. Again? we ask ourselves. The weekend was too short. We sometimes need a little extra encouragement on days like these. Here are my suggestions for you to gain some cheer this Monday: 1) Read Romans 8, Psalm 91, Psalm 23, or find another uplifting passage of scripture, even if it's just one verse. 2) Eat some chocolate...or potato chips...or whatever else floats your boat. 3) Remember that Jesus still loves you, no matter what circumstances you're in, and wants to hear from you about whatever you're struggling with, whether it's large or small (if you're reading this and don't have a relationship with Him yet, let me know if you want to know how to start one!). 4) Scroll down and see what I wore to cheer myself last Monday. If nothing else, it might inspire you to get out the ol' lipstick. ;)

However, what is a post on a fashion blog without something style related in it!?   I have decided to make this an "official" post with some actual meat to it. So far, I haven't had any outfit photo shoots this week, so there's nothing to share as far as that goes. I do have something else fun to show you, though!   In one of the folders on my computer, I have accumulated a small gallery of  pictures of retro ladies with spiffy style. A few of them have been used for projects or reference, and some are simply saved for inspiration. Most of the time, they just collect dust (metaphorically, of course). Why shouldn't I wipe off the proverbial dust and share them here to spic...

  Where I come from, costumes are a big deal. Since being in my teens, I've gone to way more events in costume than I ever did when I was little! My repertoire includes costume birthday parties, a ball, and a few medieval festivals. It's a good thing that I like fashion so much. ;)   In my area, we are blessed to have several consignment stores that have vintage clothing and costumes. I have never had to order a costume off of the internet. Not everyone has the advantage of great local stores, but with a little ingenuity, you can pull together a marvelous outfit for your next dress up event!           This was my costume for a nineteen twenties party. I searched high and low for a drop-waist dress (that wasn't an eighties prom dress), but couldn't find what I was looking for. Enter this lacy black frock. As this is my first post, I suppose that an apt way to begin would be to explain why I started this blog. :)  First of all, I greatly enjoy clothes. Putting together outfits is one of the ways I express my creativity. Lately, I've been wanting to share my hobby with others. Most girls want to wear cute clothes, but some don't know "wear" to start. A blog seemed like a splendid way to show others what I've found to work in the world of fashion. Also, I have pored over books about clothes and style. They are just so fun, that I thought I would try my hand at a similar, if smaller, endeavor. At the same time, another reason for starting this blog was to be different from other sources. Following are the two big differences: 1) As a servant of Jesus Christ, I will present modest fashions. Before I go further, I will say that I realize modesty is different for different people.
