Bramblewood Thrifted // Office-Ready 50's

Hello all! It's the last day of the Bramblewood Thrifted link-up! This day had a special challenge, which was to be vintage inspired. I ended up going for a 1950's look (though it would probably also work for 40's) that has a feminine, yet business-like look.

A delicately checkered pencil skirt and pale pink button-up blouse were the pairing that began the outfit. I added a white cardigan, which kept me warm. A cute bow-shaped belt helped to cinch in my waist and add polish. Heeled oxfords were a decidedly retro shoe choice. I did my makeup in a 50's - inspired style and added some retro flair to my hair. The resulting look would be appropriate to wear to a dressy office, a church, or baby or bridal shower.

Outfit Details: Blouse ~ Thrift or Consignment; Cardi ~ Thrift or Consignment; Skirt ~ Hand-me-down Thrift or Consignment; Belt ~ I can never remember >.< ; Shoes ~ Payless

In closing, I have an interesting question for you. Here where I live, it's still light out at 6:45. On Saturday evening, my family and I turned our clocks ahead, and are now experiencing an extra hour of daylight. I would like to know...
Do you live in a state that doesn't participate in daylight saving time?
If you don't live in the U.S. do you live in a country that does do daylight saving?

And let us not grow weary while doing good, for in due season we shall reap if we do not lose heart.

  3. Super cute outfit Paige! I'd wear that...only I'd change the pink to blue which is more my color/style. ;)
Fun questions too! I was wondering just the other day if other countries did Daylight Savings. I guess your commenters will give me my answer!
(And yes, I live in both a country and a state that participate in a time change)

    1. Thanks! Hee-hee, I might have worn a certain blue blouse, had the color gone better with my skirt.
Yes, I did a little research before posting the question! It's interesting.

  4. Nice outfit! I like how the belt ties everything in with the shoes! I wish my state *didn't* participate in Daylight Savings...never enjoy when the clock springs forward or falls back--it throws my mind and body off schedule! Oh well, I'll get used to it in a week or so and enjoy the summer until the clock changes again. :)

  5. We do have daylight savings in Australia but my state Queensland does not participate. I don't know why. Every so often there will be a push for Queensland to do daylight saving too but it hasn't happened so far. I use to live in Canberra, which is the Capital of Australia and that has day light savings. I liked having those time changes in summer and winter. I don't really care if Queensland ever changes to daylight savings.

I'm another Queenslander, Every other state in Australia has daylight savings, but not us. It means gets dark early in summer here.

  9. So sad to hear this is the end of Bramble Wood thrift. I have enjoyed this post. I love buying second hand clothes, so much fun finding bargains and letting the clothes be used again. Very pretty color combinations. Thank you for the inspirational bible verse. Stephanie
