Vintage & Thoughts || Bridal Gown / Beloved by Christ

Image
Well ladies, I have a special treat for you today! No, I'm not getting married or taking my final vows to become a nun...;). Instead, I had the privilege of modeling a beautiful vintage bridal gown. Some time ago, friends of mine came across this dress and thought of me and my blog. They were sweet enough to pass it along to me, and after a shamefully long wait, I am sharing the lovely gown with you!

Outfit || Awesome 80's

Image
Hi all! It's been a couple of weeks, hasn't it? I hope that you have been enjoying a lovely October. I don't know about you, but I seem to know of quite a few birthdays in this part of the month! Last night I dressed up in some eighties duds to help a friend celebrate her 30th birthday...retro-style!

Hello all! Hmm, it seems that I blog on a different day every week now doesn't it? Such is the life of a hobby blogger and indeed, such is the life of everyone! Our days are full of ups and downs, free time and busy time, surprises and daily duties. Now and then the Lord gives us little gifts (material or intangible) that put a smile on our face in the midst of it all. One of recent gifts for me was this skirt!

Bramblewood Thrifted // Office-Ready 50's

Image
Hello all! It's the last day of the Bramblewood Thrifted link-up! This day had a special challenge, which was to be vintage inspired. I ended up going for a 1950's look (though it would probably also work for 40's) that has a feminine, yet business-like look.

Style School: Retro

Greetings readers! My weekend has dawned bright and sunny. How about yours? It's time for the last Style School post (though I cannot say that definitely ;) )! Let's go retro!

Retro Summer Blog Party Outfit!

Image
Hello all! How are you today? I'm happy because it's raining - a long while has passed since I've heard the beautiful sound of raindrops hitting the pavement. I'm also pleased that my summer outfit photos were done long before the rain started! ;)

Retro Summer Blog Party!

Are you ready to do some vintage- inspired outfit styling? It's time for The Retro Summer Blog Party!* Let's get started. * I published the party post momentarily to test the linkup and then reverted it to a draft before publishing my 4th of July post. This means that it showed up on my blog as older than the 4th post. Thus, I'm re-posting to make sure everyone can see it.

Vintage Magazines Part 1

Image
Happy weekend! I've got a special treat for my vintage-loving ladies today. I'll be sharing a glimpse into the mid 20th century through my four antique magazines. This little collection started about two years ago and includes two LIFE magazines from 1946 and 1947, a 1953 edition of HOLIDAY , and a Saturday Evening Post from 1961. They provide an interesting first-hand look at the events, inventions and fashion of a bygone era. So sit back, relax, and head back in time with me.

Retro Summer

Image
There is a special kind of day that makes me feel like I've stepped back in time. Sometimes, a lazy golden summer day seems to transport me to a sunshiny afternoon in the 1950's. Summer in general has a nostalgic feeling about it, reminding me of summers past and childhood memories. At the same time, I blaze trails through new sunshiny afternoons, creating memories to look back on in the years to come.

Retro Vacation Outfit

Image
Happy Monday everyone! I hope that you all had a splendid weekend. Today the outfit I'm posting is from the vacation I took a couple of weeks ago. I knew that I wanted to do a retro photo shoot at some point, so I packed my recently acquired vintage "Holiday" magazine and some red lipstick. Normally, I wouldn't pack something like that on a trip where I was going to be hiking, but hey, a fashion blogger's gotta do what a fashion blogger's gotta do. ;)

Happy Valentine's Day!

Image
Greetings lovely ladies! I hope that you are enjoying this Friday. :) It's rather wet and gray here, but the rain hasn't been here long enough yet for me to be bored of it. We'll see how I feel if it continues for another week. ;) Well, today is the day on which we in the Western world celebrate love. What kind of "love" you are celebrating depends on who you are and what you believe. For me, today is a reminder to think of the Lord's love for me, and to try to show His love to those around me (though this is something we can do every day!). And yes, it's also a superb excuse to eat sweets and wear a girly pink outfit. ;)

Style Inspiration / Bloglovin

Follow my blog with Bloglovin Okay, that's rather boring. I just connected to Bloglovin, and it wishes me to paste this code into a post in order to claim my blog. However, what is a post on a fashion blog without something style related in it!? I have decided to make this an "official" post with some actual meat to it. So far, I haven't had any outfit photo shoots this week, so there's nothing to share as far as that goes. I do have something else fun to show you, though! In one of the folders on my computer, I have accumulated a small gallery of pictures of retro ladies with spiffy style. A few of them have been used for projects or reference, and some are simply saved for inspiration. Most of the time, they just collect dust (metaphorically, of course). Why shouldn't I wipe off the proverbial dust and share them here to spic...

Sunday Best Retro

Image
For the first time, I am actually posting my Sunday best on Sunday Best and All the Rest! It's about time, eh? ;) Yesterday, I wore this retro inspired outfit to church ( though later I had to change for an ultimate Frisbee game). It was modeled after the demure, ladylike styles of the 1940's and 50's. This entire outfit was actually built around a "new-to-me" pleated wool skirt. For only $5, I bought the Forever 21 piece from a friend who was selling it. My tank top, blouse, cardigan and belt are all from second hand stores. The only thing in my ensemble that was purchased brand new is the pair of leather heels! At first, I was not going to include the belt in this outfit, but the colors seemed too bland. When I wear neutral colors, I often like to have a pop of color. This is when the belt often comes in handy. Here, it picked up on the red stripes in the skirt and tied the whole outfit together. ...
