Christmas Fashion

Image
How do you do folks? Christmas has come and gone again, and proved to be a good holiday for my family and I. We enjoyed time with family on Christmas Eve and fellowship with dear friends on the holiday proper, as well as times with just the three (four, counting Copper ;) of us.

Good evn'n' readers! Today's post is something a little off of Sunday Best's beaten path; It's a Pinterest inspiration post! Yes, I know...I'm a little behind the times in the world of fashion blogging. ;) We all have to do these posts at some point we don't have outfit photos ready...or is it just me *cough*? Either way, enjoy these winter fashions that I've been liking this year!

Take Your Summer Clothes Into Winter!

Image
Now that December has come, the temperature has definitely dropped, even in my home town's "temperate" climate. Some clothes make an easy transition into the cooler months. Your favorite maxi skirt and pair of jeans probably look just as cute with boots and a cardigan as they do with flats and a t-shirt. What about those less obvious pieces like sun dresses though? For the trickier items, I have a few tips that have helped me. Layering                 Layering clothes is something that I do just about every day. For modesty reasons, I already layer my dresses (oh, and the fact that our summer days rarely get above the 70's, at best ;) ). The transition to the cooler months just requires putting long sleeves underneath instead of short sleeves. Some dresses also look cute with a sweater over them, such as the plaid dress in the photo.    You might have to get creative...

Of Scarves

Image
Scarves are one of my fashion weaknesses. I have a wide collection of them in varying materials, lengths, widths, and colors. Adding a scarf to an outfit can completely tie it together (pardon the pun). Colorful scarves brighten up a monochromatic look. Silky ones make a posh addition. Knits are cozy for the winter. Lacy scarves lend a feminine touch. The versatility of scarves is part of what makes them fun to wear.   Following are my first attempts at tutorials! They are quite simple, so I hope they make sense. :) My version of folding a square scarf: 1) This is the scarf laid out flat. The dollar bill is for scale. 2) I begin by folding it in half diagonally. 3) Next, I fold it in half lengthwise. 4) Then, I fold it in half again. 5) I flipped it over so that there are no edges showing. Wearing the Square Scarf: 1) I first knot the scarf like I would if I were beginning to tie a shoe. Double-knotting will probably work best with slippery material ...
