Then & Now
A 13-year-old fashion statement. This one is pretty cute , actually! |
I'm impressed by the younger fashion bloggers I see. These girls have great style! I would not have been a good fashion blogger at that age. In retrospect, this was probably a good thing. I went blissfully ignorant through my awkward stage without realizing I was in it. It wasn't that I didn't care about what I wore, but my fashion decision-making was far more simplistic than it is now.
Me at thirteen again...I promise I wasn't in 2nd grade! Like my glasses? |
Here I'm 14, very much into layering short-sleeved button-ups. and sporting an updated hairstyle. |
I used to enjoy achieving office appropriate looks. |
I was crazy about this dress! It reminded Mom of the 70's. |
And then one day when I was eighteen I started a fashion blog. You happen to be reading it right now. My style is still changing and maturing. I still have several different "looks" within one week. One thing is for sure though - I decided that I like fashion! ;)
Outfit Details: T-shirt ~ Refashioned by Mom; Skirt ~ Hand-me-down from Mom;
Leggings ~ Borrowed from Mom; Flats ~ Walmart
How old were you when you starting really caring about what you wore?
Why are you cast down, O my soul?
And why are you disquieted within me?
Hope in God;
For I shall yet praise Him,
The help of my countenance and my God.
Psalm 42:11
Neat to see your fashion journey, Paige! I've always cared about what I wore (since I can remember), but in retrospect, I used to have some really not-so-great tastes! I started dressing more like I do now around the time I turned 16. You have some pretty nice outfits in this post actually!
ReplyDeleteThanks Bethany! Heh-heh, I think we can all relate to that.
DeleteThank you! :)
Ahaha.. true though!!! :P
ReplyDeleteThe skirt is really cute:))
Congratulations! :D :D :D
ReplyDeleteThank you :)
DeleteWould be alright to say that I think you were a super cute thirteen year old...? Aww! You put together lovely outfits even then...perhaps different to your styles and tastes now, but nonethelness great! I started becoming aware of what I wore at around 13 or 14. I didn't have access to many clothes, but I did what I could and enjoyed it anyway!
ReplyDeleteIsn't it so sweet to go back a bit in time? I really enjoyed this post, dear Paige! Thank you for sharing it with us!
Hugs!
Kelly-Anne
Heh-heh, aw thanks. ;)
DeleteWell, that's cool! It's good to learn to work with what you have.
I love old pictures!!!!!
ReplyDeleteI like your outfit! :) :) I'm not sure when I started worrying about what I wore. Probably once I turned into a teen. :)
Me too! :)
DeleteThank you! :D
I think we all went through that awkward phase.... I know my fashion sense was pretty nil until I was at least 15. The tomboy phase stretched long for me. ;)
ReplyDeleteI love your sense of fashion though and I think you're doing a great job. :)
Heh, yes. Then we look back later and realize just how awkward it was...
DeleteThanks so much Lois!
How cute! I first starting looking into fashion when I was about 15. I played Basket Ball in middle school so all I wore thought out middle school was long baggy boy's athletic shorts! Ew!

Thanks Margaret! Oh, haha! It sounds like your style has changed a lot. :)
DeleteI began to care about fashion at age 10!!! LOL it was 'the thing' to do with my friends and I.... at that time! Never grew out of it!
ReplyDeleteHaha! Isn't that the way it starts?!
DeleteAwww, how fun to see your style "evolution."
ReplyDeleteLol! Oh goodness, I cringe going through my archives sometimes! I started my blog when I was 15-yikes....sometimes I wonder what possessed me to wear certain things.

Haha, yes! It's amazing how much our tastes change in a few short years...but then, I guess it's part of being a teen. :)
DeleteI loved this look back! It's fun to see how we were back then (and for me, a little cringe-worthy, too. >.<) I think it's safe to say our styles have involved and dare I say improved? ;) It must have been all those.....fashion games we played together. Don't you remember? (I would be Unfortunate if you didn't) Actually I'm embarrassed now.
ReplyDeleteYes, our styles have improved indeed! ;) It MUST have been those games. *cough-cough* Don't you remember? >.<
DeleteAwww the thirteen year old you is so adorable. I look forward to seeing your fashion style change over the years. I started to care about fashion when I was about ten. Some girls made fun over clothes and it hurt my feelings so I started to be a bit more conscious of my fashion choices. It didn't really change me, before I was kinda scruffy because I was a tom boy mud pie making kind of child so I just became a bit neater.
ReplyDeleteHeh, thank you Carlyn!
DeleteWell that's too bad you got made fun of. :( Neatness is a good habit to have though, as I'm sure you've found. :)
