Fancy Pants // Be Thou My Vision
Happy Saturday, all! I hope this weekend has given you the rest you need. Today I have not one, not two, but three new things to share with you! You get an extra dash of culture today (if you could call my playing cultured ;)) along with your dose of fashion, as I will be sharing a song on my hammered dulcimer.
The first new thing is a cute red summer blouse that I picked up on a day-trip a month or two ago. It has such a sweet print, and I'm glad to add more red to my closet. Secondly, I bought a pair of black pants to wear to work. Some days, I just want to wear pants, but jeans are not appropriate for the office (and also against the rules - go figure!). I wore them for the first time with low heels, and I like how classy yet comfy the outfit turned out.
Outfit Details: Blouse ~ Thrift Store; Tank ~ ?; Cardigan ~ Thrift or Consignment Store; Pants ~ Rue 21; Heels ~ ?
And now, please enjoy my rendition of Be Thou My Vision for hammered dulcimer. Be sure to turn up the volume, as the sound quality is bad.
I learn a new song every now and then, and plan to share them here occasionally. I will be looking into finding a music theory curriculum to help me understand this new language. With a basic theory knowledge, I hope to be able to read, understand, and therefore play music much better!
Make a joyful shout to the Lord, all you lands!
Serve the Lord with gladness;
Come before His presence with singing.
Come before His presence with singing.
Psalm 100:1-2
The way the dulcimer sounds, is just incredible!! I love it!! And the song, and how you play!!
ReplyDeleteThank you so much for your sweet words Mariya!
DeleteI do like your red blouse, looks very nice with black pants. What a treat to see and hear you play the dulcimer. You really played beautifully. The sound is so elegant and peaceful. Totally enjoyed it. Thank you for sharing;) Stephanie
ReplyDeleteThanks bunches Stephanie! :)
DeleteBe Thou My Vision is my favorite hymn, and I absolutely loved the way it sounded on the dulcimer. You play beautifully. Well done, Paige! :)
ReplyDeleteAw, I'm so glad. Thanks! :)
DeleteI loved your version of "Be Thou My Vision"! One of my favorite hymns performed on one of my favorite instruments! Are you familiar with the Christian artist Rich Mullins? He makes ample use of the hammer dulcimer, especially in his album "Songs". I think he's the reason I love the instrument so much.
ReplyDeleteOh, and if you ever need help with music theory, just shoot me an email! I may be a little rusty, but I studied music theory in high school and took three semesters of college level music theory. :)
I'm excited to see the spring/summer blouses coming out! My summer clothes are in a suitcase on my bedroom floor, ready to be moved back into my closet...but oh, I'm such a procrastinator! :P

Thanks so much Dani! Yes, he actually inspired me to become interested in the dulcimer! :D
DeleteWell, thank you very much! Starting from the ground up, it's hard to know where to begin.
Hee-hee! :)
Wow, I haven't heard you play in forever and this is really good! It sounds so complex :D you'll be playing like Rich Mullens in no time ;)
ReplyDeleteAw, thanks! <3 Hee-hee, we shall see! :) ;)
DeleteHow beautiful! I'm not familiar with the dulcimer at all, so it was lovely to hear! Be Thou My Vision is one of my favorite hymns.

Thank so much Kalin! :D It's one of mine too.
DeleteOh, I am so happy to hear that you have found a good job and that it is going well, dear Paige! I am sure it is a true learning experience... This outfit is lovely and stylish too ~ there is something about dressing smartly, isn't there? {{smiles}}
ReplyDeleteI would LOVE to listen to you playing the dulcimer, but my internet is currently very limited, so I will have to another time:( How wonderful that you have found an intrument that bring you joy and ultimately will bless others for years to come! Enjoy, friend! Be Thou My Vision is one of my favourite hymns...
Thinking of you, Paige! Big hugs coming your way!

Thank you so much sweet friend! Oh yes, I do like to look spiffy! Haha! :)
DeleteAw, well perhaps you can listen the next time I post a song! Hopefully my tempo will be better by then. ;P
Hugs to you as well!
You are very talented playing the dulcimer. I love that hymn - we sing it a lot at our Church Services.
ReplyDeleteYour black pants are very smart and ideal for work. We have a black and white code for our office and I wear mine most days during cooler weather and black skirts during the summer.
Thanks very much Rebecca! :D
DeleteThat sounds like a good plan. :)
