Photography || Christmas 2016
And just like that, Christmas has come and gone. I thought perhaps today's post would be a last weekends events with photos to illustrate. Instead, I present something more like photo essay with a few words of explanation. Though I don't always hold the view that a picture is worth a thousand words, I think in this case photography will help you reminiscence of Christmas day with me.

Christmas Eve found my family and I visiting some dear friends and then my maternal grandparents before heading to an annual gathering at my aunt's house. We enjoyed visiting my Dad's family, eating good food and opening gifts. After getting settled in at home again, Dad read aloud the Christmas story from Matthew and we opened a few of our gifts. Mom popped in a Christmas movie and we unwound a bit before heading to bed.
On Christmas Day we enjoyed a church service with those we have been worshipping with, hearing a message on the Word made flesh. At home, we opened the rest of our gifts and had some time relaxing and finishing up tasks. In the mid-afternoon we were off to have fellowship at the home of close friends. We enjoyed a delicious dinner, gift-opening and sweet visits for several hours before leaving for home again.
How did you celebrate this Christmas?
And the Word became flesh and dwelt among us, and we beheld His glory, the glory as of the only begotten of the Father, full of grace and truth.

I absolutely love this post, Paige! Your pictures are so pretty. I really like the first one and the last one. Wood fires are pretty much my favorite thing for the winter <3

Thanks so much Autumn! That is so cozy! My family doesn't have a fireplace, but I enjoyed our friends'. :)
DeleteWhat a nice Christmas you had Paige. We had a candle-light service at church on Christmas Eve, and then went to family's house on Christmas Day.

Yes, I did. :) Lovely, I hope you had a good celebration Lexi!
DeleteGlad you had a wonderful Christmas with family! I think my favorite of your shots is the one of the hymnal and the song "O Come, O Come, Emmanuel." I learned that on the piano one summer and can remember singing it while drying out in the sun after swimming! Ha! That is probably a bit of a different memory than most people have of the song.
ReplyDeleteThis Christmas my folks and I hiked around upper Pine Lake and then ran around the lower lake. It was a lot of fun!
Thanks! Oh, that is so fun! Christmas songs about the Lord have themes that resonate year round, so it works. ;)
DeleteThat sounds like a blast! Was it cold though?
Copper looks like he is enjoying his new gift! Glad you learned another song for your dulcimer, hope to hear sometime. Looks like you had a very nice gathering. Beautiful homemade Nativity. Love your country sunsets:) we also had a wonderful Christmas with family, laughter and good conversation along with gifts and a special card that touched my heart. Thank you for sharing. Stephanie
