Travel || August Mini-Vacation

    Hi everyone, and happy weekend! You folks asked for photos from my trip, and here they are! I wasn't feeling up to continuing my series this week, so it actually worked out quite nicely to have something else to share. Please enjoy the beauties of California. :)

   For the past several summers we have been going to a small town nestled in the forests of the northwest. Usually we stay with friends who have a garage/guest house right next to their home. This has always been a place of peace, relaxation and good fellowship. Above, you see the view from one of the guest house decks.

   Late on Sunday morning, my parents and I set out for a hike in the mountains. We trekked up a steep trail, not sure exactly at what point we would turn around. When we came to a small but strong creek, we stopped for lunch. I enjoyed capturing photos of the water rushing over the rocks.

   Our stopping point came to be a beautiful meadow filled with wildflowers, butterflies, and dragonflies. It was a serene place, and we spent some time there taking photos, and relaxing. Eventually, we decided to head back down the trail. My dad was stung by a yellow jacket on the way out, but made it back to the car safe and sound.

   On both nights we enjoyed dinner and visiting at the home of the couple who were hosting us. Mom and I borrowed a couple of movies from them to enjoy when we got back to our temporary bedroom. On Saturday night, the three of us went out on the deck to stargaze.

   We headed home on Monday, stopping at a couple of places on the way. For a late lunch, we stopped at a cafe/restaurant that afforded a lovely view of the river. Finally, we were home, our new-to-us-car caked with dust from the mountain road. Alas, the trip had seemed too short! As all good summer moments, however, it will live on in memory.

“So why do you worry about clothing? Consider the lilies of the field, how they grow: they neither toil nor spin; and yet I say to you that even Solomon in all his glory was not arrayed like one of these."
Matthew 6:28-29
