"Guest" Post || Copper's Day

   Hello, humans! At long last, Paige is giving me the opportunity to be a main feature on her blog. Why I'm not prominent in each post is a mystery to me, but so are many things of the human world. My lack of blog attention is probably just as well, for I have a mistrust of things that I can't discern by my excellent sense of smell.

   A day in the life of Copper is probably going to be quite interesting to you, because I am interesting to most people. Let us not kid ourselves - any guests to our home are coming to see me. Just in case they have bad intentions, however, I give them a proper warning of what I will do should they transgress. No more rabbit chasing, though I would be an astounding rabbit-chaser, if given the chance.

  This morning, I began by getting out of my warm den and facing the frigid air of the house. The mother of the home fixes my breakfast each morning as a certain person has a difficult time getting out of her bed. As usual, I had a fine blend of oats, and brewer's yeast to maintain my health. My next course was a kibble a la bison and potato. After such a meal, I was ready to rest in a comfortable blanket nest for a while. When the opportunity arose, I enjoyed sunbathing a spell, until the clouds rolled in.

Concern over Paige getting ready to play her dulcimer

   Later in the morning, Paige served my lunch. As a young dog, I trained my humans to give me food several times a day rather than all at once. I prefer it this way, so that my stomach is never devoid of food; Food is my reason to live. Soon after lunch, our dear mother was preparing food, slicing a fine block of cheese. I made known my intentions to enjoy some of that cheese, and she obliged me after putting me through certain head-balancing humiliations. Humans are so unreasonable.

Defending the house

   When the humans left, I was mournful, and tried to sleep off my sorrows. Every day Paige disappears to who knows where, and leaves me to entertain myself. When the mother returned today, she carried on with her own business for a while. She remained relatively unimpressed when I bravely defended our home from an intruder who was audacious enough to leave papers in the small box on our porch. However, not all was dismal, for she soon uttered that most delightful word - WALK. I had an overwhelming time catching up with all the news of the neighborhood, and enjoyed every minute of it.

Greeting Paige

Running SO FAST to find the treats!

   After long hours, Paige finally returned. I happily greeted her by reminding her that I was hungry. The poor girl might forget, so I am generous towards her. She soon settled down to her own dinner, while I kept watch in case she decided to be kind and share; She did not. At last, came my favorite daily ritual - Paige got out the TREATS! She enjoys admiring my fine sense of smell by hiding them for me to find. My enthusiasm can hardly be contained, so sometimes I watch where she puts them. After eating my fill for the day, I enjoy some quality time with Paige on the sofa. She really is a dear girl, if a bit slow to meet my demands at times.

  I hope you enjoyed seeing a day in the life of Copper! When you shall see more of me I do not know - it will probably be too long. Many thanks to Stephanie and Bethany for asking me to share. Auf wiedersehen, readers!

A righteous man regards the life of his animal,
But the tender mercies of the wicked are cruel.

  3. This made me laugh out loud (especially the head-balancing humiliations bit)! I mean, not that I would laugh at your tragedy, Copper....it's a serious issue how humans treat you like you're a mere pet when we know it's the other way around. ;)

    Paige, if you've been allowed by Copper to read this comment, well done ;)
