Outfit/Thoughts || Welcoming October & Enjoying Life

   Hello everyone! Can you believe this is already my first blog post for October? September went by so quickly that I even missed celebrating my blogversary on the 2nd....hehe, woops! Regardless, the season has transitioned from summer to autumn, and the time for sweaters and boots has come!

   During our mini-vacation last weekend, Mom and I spent some time shopping at one of our favorite consignment stores. Though ours discoveries weren't quite as exciting as in years past, we both found some cute things. I needed more grown-up, office-appropriate clothes, and picked up a few pieces that fit the bill.

   Today dawned with stormy skies, so I pulled out a cozy American Eagle brand sweater that I bought on the trip. The rest of my outfit was simple, comprised of a gray a-line skirt, knee socks, and brown boots. Though not particularly stylish, it was an outfit that made me feel cozy and ready for autumn! I ended up being too warm in the office, but I had to pretend it was sweater weather. ;)

  As you can see, today's weather was just perfect for curling up at home with a hot drink, blanket, and movie; Instead I had to go to work with a miserably scratchy throat and a pile of papers awaiting me. Nearing the building, I greeted an older salesman who opened the door for me and exclaimed about what a great dealership we have to work at, as we are surrounded by lovely scenery. I had to agree with him - we do have a great location.

   Though I didn't make the connection until this evening, I realized that the gentleman had helped me to enjoy a moment in a day that hasn't been my best. It wasn't a turning point that made my whole day better, but I really did feel the happiness of that brief moment. In all honesty, I can be really cranky and pessimistic when things don't go my way or when I feel stressed and overwhelmed (which happens too easily). To enjoy life more, I need to take time to appreciate and take advantage of the simple gifts God has given me. Maybe when I go to work tomorrow, I will remember to take a break from obsessing over my mental to-do list to thank God for the mountain views.

What are your thoughts on enjoying life?
Is this something you need to work on too?

 Every good gift and every perfect gift is from above, and comes down from the Father of lights, with whom there is no variation or shadow of turning.

  2. Hey! I think we all struggle with this at some point. A nurse I used to volunteer with told me once that to really enjoy my job and give my best, I had to... "Take everything as an opportunity, rather than a personal inconvenience." And that has been my life "motto" ever since. It really makes me see things (especially my job) in another light. Everything we do is really an opportunity to serve others, etc, on our path to sanctification (especially when life doesn't go our way). :-) I hope that helps you, too!

  3. You picked the best Autumn colors for your cozy outfit. I really like how you posed in each picture. I tend to look on the positive side of situations. I am a genuine happy person. If I smile at someone it pretty much is contagious and we all feel good. People are important our work will get done or it will be waiting for us the next day. People may not be back so don't hesitate to be kind, you might not get another chance. Have a great rest of your week. Stephanie
