Tag || The Blogger Recognition Award

Hi all! Today I'm doing something that I haven't done in quite a while now - it's a blogging tag! This is one I hadn't heard of before, and it's quite the insightful award. I would like to thank the lovely Lexi from Times and Seasons of a Beautiful Life for nominating me (if you haven't visited her blog before, be sure to click on link! :)). Now, time to answer the Q's!

How Did I Start Blogging?

While still a teenager, I became interested with the idea of writing a fashion book from a modest dress perspective. One day, the idea came to me (thanks, Lord!) to write a fashion blog, which happens to be much easier than getting a book published. I checked out a few modest style blogs, and talked to a friend of a friend about blogging and which platform to use. Before long, I decided to take the plunge, starting a blogger account on September 3rd, 2013. The rest is history!

What are Two Pieces of Advice Do  I Have for New Bloggers?

1. Don't be Afraid to Make Friends on the Internet (within reason ;))

I think in the first stages of blogging, I felt the need to say that I wasn't going to get all weird about it and connect with people online. Well if that's what I thought, it's too late now. ;) You see, I have met some wonderful ladies through mutual blog following, or simply having them comment on my blog. A few of them have connected with me outside of blogging. Though we live in different states or even on different continents, we have much in common and enjoy learning about each other's differences. If you use common sense and good safety techniques (i.e. not sharing your exact location), you may find some sweet and rewarding friendships online!

2. Don't Let Blogging Become a Chore

Like all forms of creative writing , blogging doesn't always come easily. If your blog isn't your main your source of income, then you have the liberty to take a break at those times when it feels like you are painfully cranking out posts just to keep the page fresh. When you want to make sure the blog stays updated during a break, ask some of your friends to contribute guest posts. Perhaps you just need to post less often - I recently made this change, and it has helped blogging to stay enjoyable. When blog writer's block hits, you may just need to expand your post horizons, or even ask readers to help come up with ideas to post (by the way way, I want to thank my own readers for helping me out last week!). Whatever you decide to do, make sure to keep blogging fun!

Now it's time to nominate more bloggers!

Bethany at Liberty or Death
Paige at Paige's Pages
Melani at Reflections of the Heart
Maddy at Maddy's Digital Diary
Kelly-Anne at The Diary of a Country Girl and heartmade (It's a double nomination, but I don't expect you to double up your answers unless you wish to! ;))
Dani at A Vapor in the Wind
Allison at The Truth in Sea Glass and An Abundant Singleness
Andra at Andra's Finds
Evie at Letters from Avonlea
Amanda at Amanda Grace

Here are the rules, should you choose to participate:
-Thank the blogger who nominated you.
-Tell a little bit about how you started blogging.
-Give two pieces of advice for new bloggers.
-Nominate 15 other bloggers. (Or whatever number you wish, apparently!)

Even the sparrow has found a home,
And the swallow a nest for herself,
Where she may lay her young—
Even Your altars, O Lord of hosts,
My King and my God.
Blessed are those who dwell in Your house;
They will still be praising You. Selah

  5. How exactly do I do a blogger tag?

    1. Hi Rachel, you will write a post answering the questions asked in the tag, following whatever instructions the particular tag has. Then, you create your own questions (in the case of this tag, everyone answers the same questions) and find several other bloggers to tag. You will include their names in your post, then comment on their blog to let them know they've been tagged. Now it's their turn to post, if they choose!:)
