Outfit // Retro Lace

Hello all! Hmm, it seems that I blog on a different day every week now doesn't it? Such is the life of a hobby blogger and indeed, such is the life of everyone! Our days are full of ups and downs, free time and busy time, surprises and daily duties. Now and then the Lord gives us little gifts (material or intangible) that put a smile on our face in the midst of it all. One of recent gifts for me was this skirt!

While browsing a consignment shop with a couple of friends one evening on the town, I happened upon this lovely lace and tulle number. Was the size right? Yes! Was the price right? Yes! Needless to say, it came home with me. I wore it for the first time yesterday and decided to do a retro inspired look. A black cardigan layered with bright pink were in keeping with the skirt's color theme. Sleek black heels added elegance. With vintage-inspired hair and makeup, I was ready with a unique Sunday ensemble.

Now ladies, what are your preferences for retro fashion? Do you go all out in a completely period correct ensemble? Would you rather just throw on some red lipstick and an embellished cardigan to pay homage to the past? Perhaps you don't enjoy or haven't even yet considered retro fashion.

I fall into the category of fashionistas who like looks inspired by the past yet don't quite seem to have stepped out of a vintage photograph. Regardless of how much or how little I decide to resemble the past on any given day, there is a certain irresistible glamor about the "olden days". Though being casual and comfortable is enjoyable, I like the idea of a time when ladylike skirts and red lipstick could be part of everyday life. Something about it makes a girl feel elegant in a delightful way!

And now a reminder that while clothing is fun to style,
thoughts of not having enough or the right kind of clothing should not worry us. He provides what we need!

And why are you worried about clothing? Observe how the lilies of the field grow; they do not toil nor do they spin,  yet I say to you that not even Solomon in all his glory clothed
himself like one of these.
Matthew 6:28-29

  2. I have a mild near-obsession with lace, and so I absolutely love that skirt! Sometimes I really appreciate the fact that I can wear a t-shirt, jeans, and sneakers on any given day but I often find myself wishing that I could put on a dress, feel pretty, but not feel conspicuous at the same time.
