Red, White, and Blue!

  Hey all! Now that over a week has gone by,  it's probably time that I showed you what I wore for Independence Day. It has red and white and blue and stripes, and... and...well, it doesn't have stars. Four out of five patriotic elements isn't bad though, right? ;)

  The denim skirt that has been featured here many a time provided the blue part of my ensemble. Red and white stripes were added by this cute new t-shirt I purchased when we were out of town last month. It sports a pinkish red tone, but it still counts! Blue and white striped slip-ons continued the patriotic theme, while a gold and red necklace and pendant added a fitting bit of sparkle.

  In honor of the occasion, I added some shimmer to my eyelids, in the form of NYC's eye sparkle powder. I lined my eyes with a navy shadow, then added the sparkle on top - it's very concentrated, so what you see in the photo is smudged. The rest of my lid is covered in ivory cream shadow. There you have my very brief, unprofessional 4th of July makeup tutorial. ;)

  So, what did you ladies do Independence Day? My parents, a dear friend and I went to a tributary creek of one of the rivers in our fair county and enjoyed wading in the cool water. Later, we went to my friend's house to join her family for dinner. The day was relaxing, and full of good fellowship.
  Lately, it seems that my life has been even busier than usual.There have been babysitting jobs, visits with friends, preparations for our new pastor and his family, and little things on my part to get ready for Vacation Bible School and camp counseling. Life is full to the brim, and it can get a little overwhelming at times to have a different schedule each day. I have to remember that a God who loves me is guiding me through it all and that glorifying Him is the most important thing I can do with my life.

"He shall cover you with His feathers,
And under His wings you shall take refuge;
His truth shall be your shield and buckler."
~Psalm 91:4

Did you wear patriotic colors for the 4th of July?
 Are there any scripture verses you like to turn to when you feel stressed?

  2. Lovely outfit! The verse you shared is beautiful. The verses I think of are Psalms 91 and 23 and "The Lord is my light and my salvation; the Lord is the strength of my life, of whom shall I be afraid?"

    I wore blue and white, and I have red hair--but not quite patriotic red ;)
