Eclectic Winter

Over the past few years, my style has changed and hopefully, matured. From the time I got seriously interested in putting together cute outfits for myself until now, my style has been here there and everywhere. That's probably completely normal for a teenager though... ;)
Now that I'm twenty, I'm trying to dress more like a young woman than a girl. Being Paige, that means I find my own  looks instead of faithfully following trends. Some days my look is classy, some days it's boho, and on other days it's retro; what I wear depends on my mood and what is currently inspiring me. Thanks to using Pinterest for the past few months I've been exposed to a lot of rustic/eclectic/vintage fashion lately. That kind of style was a large part of today's outfit inspiration.

This pretty floral skirt has been an item that I've long deemed "too fancy" for everyday wear, just like the one I wore here last week. Last week, Mom pulled it out, suggesting that I use it on the blog. Yesterday, I took the plunge and put together an outfit for it.
A forest green sweater that my parents gave me for Christmas ended up being the perfect pairing for my printed and beaded skirt - I'm a fan of the slightly retro look of this sweater's twisted neckline! A skinny gray belt added a modern touch and pulled in the gray of my tank top. To accessorize, I donned a sweet little necklace that was a Christmas gift from my friend. Once again, my brown boots were the shoe of choice. A braided hairdo was the finishing touch.

The inspiration I hope you take with you is: 1) Try something new-to-you in fashion. It just might be your new look! 2) Don't be afraid to get out your nicer duds on days where you won't be getting particularly dirty. That being said, I wouldn't recommend dressing in a way that makes you stick out like a sore thumb and scream for attention, as that is one way of being immodest. However, being ladylike and well-dressed is just one way to embrace femininity as well as modesty. It's also fun! :)

Do you like to dress up a little bit on casual days?
Have you tried any new fashion looks lately that you weren't so sure about at first?

  4. Paige, This is such a pretty outfi! I don't think your skirt is too fancy at all. I've been wanting to try wearing more skirts lately. It's so cold I think I need to buy some leggings first! ;)

  5. The skirt is very pretty, Paige! I'm not much into dressing up--probably less into it than I should be. My main objective is to be comfortable, so that usually means wearing the clothes I'm used to. I do decide to try out a few new items once in a while for variety though.

    1. Thank you Bethany! :) There's nothing wrong with being comfy! On days when I babysit I don't wear stuff quite like this. :-S
