Red Dress Sunday Best

Hello all! I'm still here! Saturday's post was missed due to the craziness of life and the fact that I had a little incident with my photographs (see below for the full story), but now I'm back on schedule! :)

On Saturday, Mom did a photo shoot of my Valentine's Day outfit before I went off to an all girls party. Sadly, the camera was set to take photos in RAW form. On a previous day I had set it to RAW and had discovered that my Photoshop doesn't read my camera's RAW files; I had no immediate way of opening them. Before the outfit session, I had forgotten to change the setting back to JPEG, hence no Valentiney outfit to share. There wasn't a chance of wearing it again the next day either because I had bitten into a chocolate at the party and caramel gushed all over my shirt! *Sigh*...that's just the glamorous life of a fashion blogger folks. ;)

Happily, the ensemble that I wore to church came to the rescue and was nearly as Valentiney looking as Saturday's outfit. I tried a new look by layering my red dress with a skirt underneath instead of pants. A flared tan skirt was just right for adding modesty to the dress as well as setting the tone for a warm color palette. My beloved bow-shaped belt accessorized the dress, and heeled brown oxfords proved to be the perfect shoe choice for the day.

Have you ever had a camera incident like the one I described?
Do you have any tips for ways that could enable me to download RAW files?
Have you ever bitten into a filled chocolate that exploded?
Thanks for your input!

  1. Awe! I wish I would have known! You can convert RAW images into JPEG really easily. You could still showcase that other outfit! If you have windows photo viewer (just whatever pops up when you save the photos to your computer), just click edit on the top corner and another window will appear and you will click on the photo you want to edit. Don't make any changes there. Just hit save and when the save page shows up, there will be a drop-down menu right under the space where you name the photo. Just save the file as a JPEG and you should be good to go! Hope that helps :D

    1. Thanks so much for your help McKenna! :D
Oddly enough, though our windows photo viewer doesn't have an "edit" option (this computer is almost four years old), some files from the first day of RAW are now showing up as windows photo viewer thumbnails. Now that they're doing that I'm able to open them with open freely! Ah, the confusing world of technology.
      Thanks again!

  2. You look stunning, Paige! I just love that dress, and I really like how you wore the skirt underneath. It actually looks like it is part of the dress.
That's too bad about your pictures! Photography is definitely my area of downfall so I don't have much advice for you on that!

  3. Hi Paige! Oh yes, the days that photos have problems are so not fun! Ha ha! I'm glad to let you know though that we really haven't had any for a while which is NICE! :)

Oh this outfit! It looks great on you! I really want/need to get a post together for our followers on how best to pair short dresses with skirts! These two pieces of yours worked so well together and flattered your shape effortlessly!

  4. You paired this dress with a skirt beautifully! I love this trick for making a dress modest, but unfortunately I can't always make it look right. It looks perfect on you. I'm sorry about your photos! It's awful when things like that happen.

    1. Aw, thank you Ashley! :) This look worked out because the skirts were of similar fullness. If the underskirt was straighter, it probably wouldn't have worked out. :-S

  5. Oh Paige! Your outfit is simply gorgeous my dear! Love, love it! And you are so beautiful...shining with the light of the dear Lord!
Thank you for your sweet comment - sometimes Blogger gives us a few issues...a bit like your poor photos gave you!
Aww, I'm so sorry - hope you get it all worked out...do you perhaps know someone who could convert them for you? Someone with Lightroom? A dear friend helped me out once!
Hugs to you and lots of love! Kelly-Anne

Well, it seems that having the photos in "windows photo viewer" format, then opening them with "open freely" saves them as files I can see and edit. Hurray!

    1. Thank you so much Natasha! :D I got my shoes at Payless Shoe Source. I'm not sure if you have that on your side of the country. The brand of the shoes is American Eagle. :)

    1. Thanks Rosalyn! :) Hm, I didn't know it was so hard to find modest things in England (it's hard enough in the U.S. :-S). I hope you find a cute new dress soon.

    2. sometimes they are really expensive, so I wouldn't buy them. I do see them around, but I either don't have money or they are too short! The dresses or skirts need to be pasted the knee on me.

    3. I'm sorry. :( Do you ever shop at second-hand stores? I find most of my clothes at thrift stores.
