Argyle // His Strength

   Happy weekend folks! Do you have any plans for celebrating the resurrection of our Savior? I hope that you are able to enjoy fellowship with other believers and praising the Lord for His work. :)

   So, this outfit bears a couple of similarities to last weekend's look. What can I say, I only have so many clothes! ;) Yesterday I tucked a graphic tee into a black skirt for a chic yet casual look. A braided black belt was an essential part of the outfit, weaving through the skirt's belt-loops and tying the whole look together. Teal tights kept the fun in the outfit, while a denim jacket and boots kept me warm and maintained the color theme.

   Have you ever said "I can't do this any more!" ? I have. I'd had enough of the storms of life that day and didn't know how to take another step. Then it hit me - I had come to the point where I must rely on God's strength.

   A few summers ago my family and I went camping with our mini dachshund, Copper. One day, we set off on a day hike. Our hike was on rough terrain, and though I don't remember how long this one was, our hikes are usually at least 3 miles round trip. Copper must have been getting tired, and the rocks must have hurt his feet but he did not want to be carried at all. That night at the campsite the poor creature could barely stand to walk a few feet!

   Sometimes, I'm a bit like Copper. I keep going on my own strength until my spiritual feet are as tired as my dog's little paws were after hiking. That is the point where I must cry out to God and ask Him to carry me. I'm not meant to live life on my own strength. I'm meant to do all things through Christ who strengthens me (Philippians 4:13). Instead of thinking that I know what to do and trying my best to do it it, I need HIM to live through me, throwing all my weight on Him. My own supply of strength is so tiny compared to His.

   Does that mean that everything automatically becomes easier? Not exactly. For one thing, I'll probably forget to ask God for his strength. For another, as long as I live with my flesh in this sin-cursed world, life will never be completely easy. Asking God for His strength may not mean ease, but it means that I have less pressure on myself knowing that I can cast all my care upon Him because he cares for me (1 Peter 5:7). It means that if I trust and acknowledge Him he will direct my path (Proverbs 3:5-6). In the strength of the Lord, I can do much more than I can on my own.  In the words of Psalm 18:32 , "It is God who arms me with strength, And makes my way perfect.

The Lord is my light and my salvation;
Whom shall I fear?
The Lord is the strength of my life;
Of whom shall I be afraid?
Psalm 27:1

  1. Super cute outfit, Paige!
    I agree, it can be hard to ask God for strength. We think we need to do everything in our own strength, when the reality is that we could show so much more strength by asking for help.

  3. Love you outfit! :) We are having an Easter meal after our Easter service. I always enjoy having a meal at our church. we do it on Harvest time and on Christmas time.
    Yes, that is so true about asking God for his strength in some things. Sometimes we easily forget to!

    2. We did! We had three visitors, which was really nice! Please be praying that they will come to our services in the future. It it really hard to get people to come. Some people don't want anything to do with religion!

  4. Paige, sweet friend...what true, true words about relying on God! How often I find myself doing everything in my own strength and then not understanding why I am so tired and weary at the end of a day!
    I praise the Lord that His grace covers me and that He freely welcomes me into His loving arms when I have realised I can't do it on my own anymore!
    Praying your Resurrection Sunday is very blessed!
    Hugs and much dear love,

  7. Paige, you are so beautiful! I love the argyle and the denim jacket--such a great look on you. :)

    Also, thank you for being so honest and open. I struggle with the same thing, trying to continue in my own strength instead of entrusting every circumstance to Jesus and His perfect strength.

    I hope you had a happy Easter!
