Sailor Skirt!

How do you do dear readers? Today I am happy to share an outfit with you featuring two new items. It's been like Christmas for my closet lately! My outfit includes none another than my very first item from ModCloth, and it's a fun one at that.

Last Christmas, my best friend was kind enough to gift me with a certificate for ModCloth. I was definitely excited about that gift (in my quiet, internal way)! However, as you have probably figured out by now, I didn't spend it right away. I looked at the website now and then, but nothing in the appropriate price range really struck me...that is, until a month or so ago.

As you have probably also figured out, I have a fondness for nautical things that occasionally manifests itself here. Until recently, I also had a desire to get a full skirt of a neutral color and appropriate length. Lo and behold, this spring Modcloth is offering the Vivacious Venture skirt, which is sailor-style, neutrally colored, and knee-length. Finally, I was ready to use my gift certificate.

For my cute new skirt's first outing I paired it with a brown and pink striped sweater that I bought probably a couple of months ago. With my new brown flats on (it was high time to replace the others!) the colors tied in well together. A simple gold cross necklace and a braided updo were all I needed to complete the outfit.
My only complaint about the new skirt is that the size small ended up being a little bigger in the waist than I was hoping. My main fear was that it would be too tight, it's high-waisted, so at least my fears were allayed.

Have you ever bought anything from ModCloth?
Do you spend gift cards right away or let them sit in your room/wallet/purse for a long time?

If any of you lacks wisdom, let him ask of God, who gives to all liberally and without reproach, and it will be given to him.

  1. Nice outfit! I think I like the second photo best. Although I don't spend gift cards *right* away, I do usually tend to spend them a little more quickly than I probably should. Glad you finally found something that was just what you wanted!

  5. Love the skirt! I like the nautical styles too. :) I can't say that I spend gift cards quickly. I am always afraid of buying something and then regretting it later when something better comes available. I have been known to wait several months before spending one.

  6. Love the skirt! It definitely looks very sailor-ly:P You look great!! I've visited the ModCloth site and I loved the stuff they have there but it seems like everything is overly pricey.. Which is a shame since it's SO hard to find good skirts for a good price..

And the gift cards.. they usually stay in my wallet for like EVERS.. haha no but seriously..

    1. Thank you so much Mariya! Yes, sadly, ModCloth is quite pricy. :\
Haha! :) And then you forget how much is on them unless the last cashier wrote it on with a sharpie? Yep. ;)

  7. Oh love the sailor skirt! I love sailor clothing! :) I haven't shopped at Modcloth before. And usually I usually have my gift cards sitting in my purse (wallet - the English call it that) and then am sad (after I forget about it) when it exspires! :p

  8. Paige, I absolutely LOVE that skirt! It is so beautiful on you. I'm a big fan of ModCloth and recently bought a pair of vintage black heels there. I'm in a Shakespeare in the Park production set in the 1920s and I needed a vintage pair of shoes. Lo and behold, there were a black pair on clearance on ModCloth! I just got them in the mail this last week and they fit perfectly. <3

I also have to say that you did a lovely job photographing this outfit. The scenery is so cheery and compliments your skirt perfectly. And you, as always, are beautiful.

    God bless!

Thank you. :) My mom photographs me, so a lot of credit goes to her! The scenery is actually near a marina, so it fits perfectly with the sailor skirt!

  9. I love your new skirt! It looks great on you! Your hairstyle is beautiful as well! I think it suits the nautical/kind of vintage theme of the whole outfit.
I'm in between with gift cards. I usually partially spend them pretty quickly and then they sit in my wallet for a long time with just a few dollars on them.
