Neutrals / Awkward + Awesome

Why hello readers! I hope you are all doing well today. In addition to today's outfit is something a little different; a long time has passed since  I last wrote an awkward and awesome post, but you get to enjoy (at least I hope you'll enjoy it ;) one today. Without further ado, here are several of the weird and wonderful moments from my past week.

Awkward is...

* Falling down on a hike and getting my elbow scraped and bruised, meanwhile keeping my camera scratch-free
* Washing my hands and feeling a stinging sensation, and looking down to see a little slice of skin missing from my finger, for a reason that I have no recollection of
* Still having pain in my tooth nearly a week after getting a cavity filled and finding out the root may be scratched (I strongly advise you NOT to brush your teeth so hard that it leads to receded gumline.)
* Trying to learn how to use a 10-key adding machine and being stumped by...........subtraction
* Doing hand-tracing art as an example for children, and making a bizarre hand-fish
*Spilling hot chocolate all over my skirt - thankfully, this was after outfit photos

Awesome is...

* Wood-fired Hawaiian pizza and mint-chip ice cream pie while out of town
* Photographing, sketching, and reading magazines while out of town
* Getting things accomplished - you know that feeling!
* Watching Inside Out with friends last weekend
* Having an annoying, stinky old dog that is still the cutest puppy in the world ;)
* Having a mom that buys you corn pops because you remembered liking them in childhood (still yummy!) and a dad that buys ice cream
*Psalm 29 - read it! :D

This outfit was an attempt to have a Parisian look. It didn't work out quite as I intended, but it's still a cute and simple outfit with a smidgen of French flair. The pieces are all neutral, including the white and gold striped tee by J. Crew. Gold stitching on the cardigan ties in with the brown shades of the look, and though none of the shades match exactly, they came together well as a whole.

Outfit Details: T-shirt ~ Thrift or Consignment Store; Cardigan ~ Ditto previous piece; Skirt ~ Ditto; Leggings ~ Target? Not sure; Shoes ~ Walmart

Have you had any awkward klutzy moments this week?
Have you ever had corn pops? What do you think of them?

Give unto the Lord, O you mighty ones,
Give unto the Lord glory and strength.
Give unto the Lord the glory due to His name;
Worship the Lord in the beauty of holiness.

Psalm 29:1-2

  3. Nice outfit. Maybe the outfit would look more Parisian if you wore a beret? I hope you will be more careful next week and not injure yourself. I don't think I have done anything too awkward this week except I just dropped a book on my toe. I have never had corn pops before but I probably would like them as I like corn.

    1. Thanks Carlyn! :) Now to find a good beret....;)
Corn Pops are kind of a junky cereal, so they don't taste a /lot/ like corn, but there's something there.

  4. Corn pops and honeycombs are still my favorite cereals. :)

  5. I think this looks Parisian! I love how the browns ties it all together and the gray, although neutral is almost used as a pop of "color." I hope your cuts and scrapes heal soon! And don't feel silly about protecting your camera so well. I had a similar situation only I was hiking across a small river and slipped on a stone. I panicked because I had my camera in one hand. I also had to use the restroom really bad. Without going into anymore detail, that situation ended very, very awkwardly but my camera survived unscathed!!

    1. Thanks so much Jill! :)
I seem to be healing quite well, thanks. I can only imagine how awkward that situation was...but hurray for no broken cameras! I don't even think I was trying to protect mine on purpose...it must have been an involuntary reaction!

  6. Oh, I really loved this post Paige! You see, I too have those 'awkward' moments from time to time...in fact, I was a pro at walking into things that weren't even in my way when I was in my early teens:). I am sure it is good to laugh it off! :)

And your outfit is so gorgeous...I especially like your skirt which has a slight flare to it...
I intend to do some simple clothing shopping tomorrow in preparation for a trip I am taking to the big city for my friend's 18th birthday... As it is winter, I am finding it quite challenging putting together feminine outfits that don't look too bulky! I think I will have to go back and look through some of your wintry outfits for inspiration:)

Have a great week, Paige! Always so lovely visiting your blog...thank you for the inspiration, dear friend!
    Joy to you!

    1. Thank you! :D Haha, isn't that the way it goes? I got more awkward after turning 18, it seems. But you have to learn to laugh at yourself.
Ooh, enjoy your clothes shopping as well as your trip! I would be honored if you looked at my winter outfits. :) Invest in some good outerwear. ;)
      Have a great week too!

    2. I was reading through your archives and had to laugh when I saw this comment, Paige. I used to be super graceful when I was younger, but it seems that the older I get the more klutzy I get... I can hardly walk up and down the stairs now without falling over for no apparent reason. :) But I always say that at least I provide amusment for those around me. ;)

    3. Haha, isn't that the way? And yes, at least we provide amusement for others! :) Thanks for your comment Becca Anne.

  7. You look so pretty in these pictures! :) I love the cardigan.

I can't think of anything awkward that happened this week, simply because there are probably too many to remember :'( Such is life!

  8. Love your outfit! Very cute. :-) The sweater/cardigan is lovely! I already had my funny/awkward moment this week - my mom came to visit me and my sister (and our husbands) and as I was driving back from my sister's house I got lost (some streets were closed, etc). So, I had to use GPS while my Mom wondered out loud if I have ever been to my sister's house in the past year. Lol!

Oh, that is so funny! It's always awkward to get geographically challenged in your own town....:)

  9. Oh love your outfit! (Like usual) :) Awkward things are so funny or awkward (:P) when you think about them afterwards, but when you do them you feel so dumb! I'm saying how I feel when doing awkward things ;)
I can't think of anything awkward that I've done recently. Which, I guess, is good! ;) I know the feeling though when trying not to scrap-up the camera! :P I've done it several times!
I LOVE corn pops! I just haven't had them for a long time. You can't get them in England, unless its on an American aisle at a store. But even then American things in England are expensive! :-/

    1. Thanks Rosalyn! :) Yes, it's good to be able to look back and moments and laugh, though they were not funny at the time. :)
Okay, glad I'm not the only one! It was involuntary to protect the camera, but it happened nevertheless. :)
Oh no! Hopefully you can find them somewhere someday. If they were on sale that would be the best. ;)
