The Fashion-conscious Babysitter

Hello gals! How has your week been so far? Mine has been a little hectic, but I know the Lord teaches us through all experiences! :) Yesterday I had my usual babysitting job in the morning, plus another in the afternoon; the outfit featured today is what I wore for my day of childcare.

Work attire will be different for different girls depending on what their job is. Since I have two kinds of jobs, I have two kinds of work clothing. Housekeeping garb consists of jeans and a t-shirt or layered t-shirt. Childcare outfits are usually whatever I feel like wearing that day, though sometimes more simple if my job is in the morning.

Yesterday's outfit was comfortable, suited for weather changes, and not without its chic elements. I tucked a graphic tee into a classy gray skirt and put on black leggings to keep me warm - the leggings turned out to be a good idea on the chilly morning. Next, I tied a chambray shirt over the graphic tee. I styled my hair in a high ponytail, which contributed a "glam" factor. Black flats were the shoes of my choice, and I finished the outfit with a rosy-hued pearl necklace. Yes, I babysat in pearls. ;)

What do you wear to your job(s)?
Do you prefer to wear pearls/imitation pearls casually or save them for special occasions?

Therefore be imitators of God as dear children. And walk in love, as Christ also has loved us and given Himself for us, an offering and
a sacrifice to God for a sweet-smelling aroma.
Ephesians 5:1-2

  1. Hello dear friend! Oh, you look fabulous and very stylish... You always inspire me to try something new with my outfits, and I absolutely love your pearls! I don't have any myself...I quite like wearing the beautiful silver chain and cross my grandparents bought for me for my 18th...but perhaps I will make a request for some lovely pearls for a later birthday! They're so elegant...
My sister and I take turns babysitting a one year old boy, and oh is it challenging at times! He is just at that busy stage and also loves to screech when we take something away...thus, I have to put on my most patient of faces and be kind yet firm...smiles...
Always a delight visiting with you, Paige! Hugs and ever so much love to you! Thanks for being such a dear blogging friend...

    1. Aw, I'm glad to inspire you. :) How special to have a beautiful necklace form your grandparents!
Oh, I understand! Small children can be a challenge for sure. It's good that you are learning patience though!
Well, thank /you/ for being a sweet blogging friend! :)

  2. I cannot imagine needing to wear leggings right now...It's regularly 100 degrees here and wiltingly humid, Regardless your outfit is cute! Especially that skirt which looks like it could go with anything!

  4. I love the way you "glammed" up a casual outfit! My mom owns a daycare, so this summer, I helped out a lot. The kids are so adorable, but sometimes they can make a mess on our clothes!

    1. Thanks so much! :) Fun, but messy! I wore my chambray shirt dress last week and got glitter glue on it. Thankfully, there was no glitter glue this week. O.o

  5. Nice outfit! I love how all your outfits always seem to have a little touch of elegance to them! :)

I tend to save pearls for special occasions, but I'm not much of a necklace wearer to begin with. I do have a pair of imitation pearl earrings that I don't mind wearing with everyday outfits though.

  7. Very nice outfit, Paige! I love the skirt!

When I weld rebar I wear a leather jacket, leather gloves, and boots to avoid burns from sparks. When I mix concrete, I wear clothes just one step ahead of the rag drawer--they may very well be patched with duct tape! When I pick apples I usually wear a scarf over my hair, or wear a hat so the branches do not catch in my hair. When I did house-cleaning I wore leather ankle boots, a button-up shirt under an insulated vest (it was winter), and a denim skirt. One day I did end up spilling some gasoline that was in a container in the basement on my denim skirt...and so that's now a concrete-mixing, apple-picking, and gardening skirt. If I did babysit (Ahhh, that would be a terror for me!! ), I would love to dress somewhat like you did.

    1. Thanks Bethany! :D
Well, it sounds like you have a variety of clothing for a variety of jobs! Wearing a hat or scarf when apple-picking sounds sensible...did you have to learn from experience...?
