Vacation Style: Late June Edition

How do you do, all? :) I am back from what was probably my longest blogging hiatus ever, and it was not even a week and a half. Haha! This break was mostly due to going out of town for five days with my parents and best friend. We had a jam-packed week of shopping, hiking, driving, walking, eating out, hotel rooms and pools. Our busy little vacation was not only fun, but afforded plenty of opportunity for wearing and buying cute clothes! I'll show you a few of the outfits that I styled on our trip. :)

The first outfit I have to share with you is what I wore on our second day, a day of shopping, eating out, and visiting the Sundial bridge and botanical gardens. This cute dress (see it styled for cooler weather here) is one my mom handed down to me a few months ago. Unfortunately, it seems to be getting threadbare, so I'm making the most of its remaining days. The weather was warm and muggy, so I layered it with only a camisole, and shod myself in punched leather sandals. A lace hairband tied the look together.

On our third day out of town, we went for a short but steep hike to a pretty lake nestled in the mountains. I had bought new capri pants at Goodwill two nights prior, and wore them with a t-shirt and chambray shirt. The outfit was dressed up a bit by my perennial favorite silver chain and pendants. Now for a story about my absent mindedness. On the hike, I wore athletic shoes that had also been purchased at Goodwill. The Converse that I had originally intended to bring somehow didn't make it on into the luggage, so there was a desperate need for hiking shoes! I'm thankful to have found some in good shape for a good price - they were already broken in too. ;)

That evening, we arrived in Ashland, Oregon. My clothes smelled smoky after sitting by a campfire at the lake, so I changed into this outfit for going out to dinner and enjoying bits of free outdoor concerts by a choir and a marching style band. The new striped t-shirt I had purchased the day before added brightness and a holiday feel to my ensemble of much-worn favorites. This was also the first time that I had paired my chambray shirt with my khaki skirt. The result was a cute, slightly retro look with layers to keep off the cool of the night (which, by the way, didn't end up being as cool as I expected :P).

The next day was spent shopping 'til we dropped! I wore two of my favorite go-to items, a ruffled blouse and denim skirt. The pieces made a simple and feminine outfit that was easy to change in and out of when trying on clothes. A camisole under the blouse was also helpful in knowing just  how tops and dresses I tried on would look with layers. By the way, I found quite a few deals on our trip, and can hardly wait to show you some of my new garb! ;)

So, what have you all been up to lately? Have you found any great clothing deals at a thrift store or on a clearance rack lately? I hope you all have had a wonderful June and enjoy a superb July!
