Sweater Weather / Wedding Dress Expediton

Good week to you, readers! October is nearly over - can you believe it?! And do you know what that means? It's sweater weather! Well, it is for me anyway. ;)

This green sweater has been a favorite of mine for two years now, yet somehow has not made its way into an outfit post until today! Part of the reason I like this photo is that the subtle boat neck always makes me think of 1950's style necklines. Yesterday, I paired this piece with my well-worn denim skirt. Gray tights and black boots were in keeping with the outfit's cool colors. A silver necklace jazzed up the ensemble, while also carrying on the winter color scheme. "Casual but cute" describes the overall look of this cool-weather outfit.

Over this past weekend I enjoyed having a little out-of-town getaway and fellowship with friends as I joined in a wedding dress shopping expedition. You see, I have a friend who is getting married and asked me to be one of her bridesmaids because she felt that I was like a little sister to her. Yay! Going shopping was a fun and new experience for me, and I'd like to share it with you, especially since you most likely are interested in clothes if you're reading this.
I traveled to the bride's town with her mom, then set off to another city with them and her grandma early the next morning. We went to a Dress Dash event held by Brides for a Cause; They sell  the dresses for $150, and the proceeds go to give weddings to women with terminal illnesses. On this day, the doors opened to the room with the dresses at 7 am. The gowns were arranged on racks by size, and a small army of women was ready to grab them. Thankfully, they were all polite and there weren't any"bride-zillas". My friend tried on a few dresses, but didn't find anything that was just right.
After breakfast, we went to a David's Bridal store and  the bride made an appointment for that afternoon. We went window shopping downtown (yes yes, I visited some consignment stores!), had lunch, then went to the appointment. You can be sure I had a fun time looking at all those dresses! Here, they were arranged by style, with various sizes in each design. There were also sale dresses (I'm guessing they were on clearance) that were arranged by size. My friend tried on several gowns, and ended up finding the one that she wanted. With a few alterations, it will meet her modesty standards. I'm looking forward to seeing her wear it on her special day. :)

Some dresses in my size...I had to look, right?

Have you been part of shopping for a bridal gown
Where did the bride (or you, if you're married!) find the perfect dress?

Let us be glad and rejoice and give Him glory, for the marriage of the Lamb has come, and His wife has made herself ready.”
And to her it was granted to be arrayed in fine linen, clean and bright, for the fine linen is the righteous acts of the saints.

  3. I *love* that outfit on you! Looks so classy--and the green sweater is just awesome. Helping shop for a wedding dress sounds fun! None of my really close friends have gotten married yet, so I haven't had the opportunity to help shop.
