Joining the Bandwagon

Good ev'nin' ladies! I'm glad to be with you for another Saturday. :) Today I will be sharing an outfit post featuring an item that I've been wanting to acquire for some time. That's right - it's a jersey maxi skirt! They've been "in" for a while now and are probably on their way "out"... Oh well, perhaps it's better than way. ;)

Earlier this week I went on a shopping expedition at the mall with my mom. The results were that I bought this fun striped skirt and a graphic tee (which you may be seeing soon!). I was hoping to change up my look a bit, and both of the pieces are more trendy than what I normally buy in thrift and consignment stores. Now and then I enjoy buying brand new things that aren't already worn-in. It's also fun to join in on the trends now and then.

So, I'm going to honest with you and say that my skirt needed to be hemmed several inches before I could wear it! A friend surged it for me this afternoon, so this outfit wasn't even completely styled before 5 pm....which needed to get done because I had nothing else to blog about! That's the blogger life, folks. ;)
I decided to pair my striped skirt with a pale blue tee that matches the color of the top stripes in the skirt. I added my bow-shaped belt, which has proven helpful in covering the waistband the t-shirt is tucked into. A white ruffled cardigan adds a little warmth on this April evening. Lastly, my mom suggested shoeing myself in these red wedges, since red and navy go well together. Now my outfit is complete!

Outfit Details: Cardigan ~ Consignment; T-shirt ~ Hand-me-down; Skirt ~ Kohl's; Belt ~ Memory fails me...; Wedges ~ Again, memory fails me :(

If you're mainly a thrift store shopper, do you ever decide to buy brand new clothes?
Do you buy new clothes at a mall, a separate clothing store, a department store, or online?

Through the Lord’s mercies we are not consumed,
Because His compassions fail not.
They are new every morning;
Great is Your faithfulness.
Lamentations 3:22-23

  1. Love the verse you chose for today!
Your outfit is so pretty! I really hope Jersey maxi skirts aren't on their way out! They are way to comfortable to ever go away!
As for the shopping questions, I shop everywhere. I just really try to stay under $10 for clothes and $20 for shoes, unless it's an item I really need, which is rare. My go-to store for new clothes is the clearance section at Kohls, especially the 70% and 80% off racks.

    1. Thank you Jill! :) It is a favorite of mine.
      Yes, they are comfy!
That sounds sensible. :) Kohl's has some great stuff! The only problem is that I usually only fit into juniors sizes - this time they finally had a ladies skirt that fit!

  2. Super cute outfit Paige! I especially like the belt and ruffled sweater.

I wear maxi skirts all the time...only they belong to my sister. I have yet to buy one for myself!

  3. I love it! I haven't bought a maxi skirt yet though everyone raves about them. Probably like you I'll wait until they're out. ;)
I don't do a lot of brand new shopping anymore but every once and awhile I do. I can normally find what I want at thrift shores. :)

Yes, thrift stores are a great place to find things, especially if you can find the ones that carry items that aren't very worn.

  5. I like your skirt! I don't have a maxi skirt but really want one! :) I also like your dog! :) I love shopping at charity (thrift) shops and any other ones! I rarely buy brand new clothes since most of them are expensive!

    1. Thanks Rosalyn. I hope you can find a skirt soon. :) And thank you, I like my Copper too! :D
Yes, sadly, new clothes are quite expensive - when I do buy them, they're usually on sale or clearance!

    2. I have been meaning to mention this. But my family homeschool as well! We have homeschooled all my life. My oldest sister went to a school for a little while when she was younger, but that was all!

  6. I love the skirt! I love the whole outfit actually :)
I've only found one maxi I can wear, being so short and all! I should probably hem it anyway, as it is a little long. I love it though! Very comfy. :)

  9. Welcome to the club, you're rocking that skirt. I wear them mostly because they feel like wearing PJs, only cute! ;)
I suppose they'll go out of style, I'll probably be wearing them way past "cool" lol.

  10. You look lovely. I love maxi skirts. You could also wear the skirt as a strapless dress if you pull it all the way up and add a belt to cinch the look together.

  12. Love this outfit, it looks great! I'm so fond of my favorite thrift store with its wonderful prices that I rarely can bring myself to buy anything new--unless its a bargain! And then if its a bargain it can be irresistible. At Walmart the other day they had some nice tennis shoes on sale for either $3 or $5 (can't remember). I gave in and bought a pair even though I already have 1 pair that I'm wearing, and one pair in my closet waiting for its turn. But $5 tennis shoes are so hard to pass up, especially when a semi-decent pair seems to usually cost about $20.

I will try to resist buying a 4th pair even if I do see a bargain...maybe I should start singing "Yield Not to Temptation..."

You are quite a frugal person. But oh the temptations of a good deal. Perhaps Walmart will be kind and spare you next time. :)
