Girliness and Neutrals

Hello and happy Wednesday all! It's been a sunny November day in the land of evergreen trees, and I have a new outfit to show you. It's not for the faint of heart...there's lace and pink. ;)

Fashion blogger confession: This outfit took a while to come up with. After a bit of thought, I decided to style my short striped skirt, and settled on pairing it with my pink cardigan. I layered this pairing with a light gray tee and black tights. Over the tights, I put on white lace cuffs to peek out from the tops of my boots. The lace theme was echoed in the hairband that I used to style a Gibson tuck (which hairstyle a cashier complimented me on!). Finally, my outfit resulted in a perfectly girly but still practical look for home life and running errands with Mom.

Outfit Details: Cardigan ~ Thrift Store; Tee ~ Thrift Store; Skirt ~ Consignment Store; Tights ~ Gift?; Cuffs ~ Gift; Boots ~ Sears; Hairband ~ Gift

Today as I was thinking about the possibility of getting a more regular job soon, I was reflecting on how not working (though I do work some) has given me time to find out more about myself. "Finding" myself hasn't been a selfish, mystical journey of trying to look within - any reflection on myself would show some ugliness for the Lord to cleanse. Instead, it has meant finding out my pleasures, talents and interests, strengths and weaknesses, and values. My life hasn't been all about my job(s).

If you are working minimally and not going to school right now, I would encourage you to enjoy this season. You won't have time like this if you begin to work more (this isn't to say that you shouldn't get a regular job). Enjoy spending time on your hobbies and learning new things. Make sure you make the most of the time you have to spend time in the Word and prayer. Someday you may be working or ministering more or raising a houseful of kiddos!

If you aren't working a regular job, how do you make the most of your time?
Has anything changed for those of you who work regularly?
How do you make time for hobbies and interests?

See then that you walk circumspectly, not as fools but as wise,
redeeming the time,
because the days are evil.
Ephesians 5:15-16

  1. I really do love that shade of pink on you! :) and also thanks for the encouraging words! It's easy to lose sight of important things when the world has its standards and demands and pressures, but when you step back and realize what you're doing at the moment is getting closer to God and your family in the season you're in, it's really a blessing :)

  4. Paige, I love your lace head band. It looks like a craft called tatting, that I have learned this year. I made book marks and I am working on a table runner currently. I do my hobbies after work and dinner is done and cleaned up. I find it relaxing, also rewarding. I also like how you styled your hair, very becoming on you. Blessings Stephanie M.

Thanks! It can be a tough hairdo, but it's worth it.

  6. I adore the lace, Paige (not to mention the handkerchief hem)!
I know when I picked up my first part-time job, I had to find a balance. I did a lot of learning both online and with real life classrooms. By that time, I already knew my skill with fabric so I was able to position myself to spring into the world of clothing. Now, I have another part-time working for a local tailor, and my spare time is spent learning, practicing, and working (blogging too) a bit on my own about fabric, fibers, threads, notions, and clothing in general.
It's a huge change to step into the working world, but I have learned so much from it. Right now, I wouldn't trade those lessons for the world. :)

  7. Oh, I just love how feminine this outfit it, Paige! And pink...ah...my favourite colour! And I think you paired the striped skirt perfectly with the pink cardi and lacey hairband!

Being home is such a joy and yes...by doing so we do uncover many of the gifts and talents given to us by our Lord! I work from home which is a great blessing and joy, but it does come with many challenges...my time is not my own, and this is something I have had to surrender to the Lord, because I know Home is where He has placed me and where He wants me to serve for however long He deems fit...so I balance things as best I can, and also take times for enjoying new hobbies and such!

I pray you find just the right job, dear friend and that it will be enjoyable for you! I send you ever so much love...thank you for writing your lovely blog as it is a delight visiting with you!

    Xxx
