Indroduction and Classic 60's

As this is my first post, I suppose that an apt way to begin would be to explain why I started this blog. :)  First of all, I greatly enjoy clothes. Putting together outfits is one of the ways I express my creativity. Lately, I've been wanting to share my hobby with others. Most girls want to wear cute clothes, but some don't know "wear" to start. A blog seemed like a splendid way to show others what I've found to work in the world of fashion. Also, I have pored over books about clothes and style. They are just so fun, that I thought I would try my hand at a similar, if smaller, endeavor. At the same time, another reason for starting this blog was to be different from other sources. Following are the two big differences: 1) As a servant of Jesus Christ, I will present modest fashions. Before I go further, I will say that I realize modesty is different for different people. My standard is probably too high for some and too low for others, but never outlandish. 2) Things that most fashionistas call "discounts" are not! I want to show other women and girls that you can look lovely and be economical at the same time. After all, most of my clothing comes from second-hand stores!

Well, now that you know WHY I'm blogging, let's get on with this post! One of my favorite ways to get inspiration for outfits is to try a "look". Again and again I find myself trying the "classic" look. For my latest birthday party, I wore a sophisticated 1960's look. With a black sheath dress, colorful blazer, pearl necklace and heeled oxfords, I was going for an Audrey Hepburn or Jackie Kennedy style.

Sheath dresses and blazers were popular with classy ladies in the 60's, and bright colors were typical of the era. My blazer is from a thrift store that sells unique and vintage items, while the dress was on sale at Kohl's. The fun thing about a black dress is that it can be worn many different ways for various occasions.

I wouldn't say that heeled oxfords are quintessentially 60's, but in my opinion, they are full of vintage charm. For a long time I wanted lace-up heeled oxfords, and after months of waiting I found my pair in a thrift store. They are ever so slightly large, but otherwise wonderful. So, you see, second-hand shopping is usually the way to go!

This pearl necklace was a gift from friends. With that, I leave you until the next post. Meanwhile, experiment with classy 60's style!

    Very nice blog.
Did you know they are making an show of Austen's Emma where she is a fashion blogger/vlogger? I expect to enjoy the story of it, but will probably prefer the actual fashion in your blog.
