Retro Vacation Outfit

Happy Monday everyone! I hope that you all had a splendid weekend. Today the outfit I'm posting is from the vacation I took a couple of weeks ago. I knew that I wanted to do a retro photo shoot at some point, so I packed my recently acquired vintage "Holiday"  magazine and some red lipstick. Normally, I wouldn't pack something like that on a trip where I was going to be hiking, but hey, a fashion blogger's gotta do what a fashion blogger's gotta do. ;)

This outfit isn't extremely retro looking, but it does have a vintage flavor. My plaid Bermuda shorts are similar to those worn in the 50's, though they would have had a higher waistline. I like these shorts because they're long and looser fitting, so I don't have to compromise my modesty standards while in hotter weather. Chambray shirts are classic pieces, and tying the bottom of mine gave it a more polished, retro look. The scarf tied in my hair also contributed to the 50's look. My sandals...um...they're the only sandals I have, so that's why they are there. ;)
I now have a collection of four vintage magazines, this 195_ edition of "Holiday" being the latest edition. Looking at the old ads and photographs in them is really fun, and gives one a taste of what it was like to be living in those eras. This one being vacation themed, it is full of ads for different places, cruises, and cars, as well as more mundane things such as a refrigerator! It gave me something to browse as I enjoyed my "resort" vacation in the forests of California.

Unlike Mother's Day, Father's Day doesn't include a picture of me wearing a cute matching outfit with the parent being celebrated. ;) All the same, I am very thankful for my Dad. He is a friendly, forgiving, funny man who has a love for the Lord and his family. There is definitely a shortage of godly men these days, and I believe that we need to encourage our brothers in Christ as they serve the Lord, and thank them for what they do. Those of us with believing fathers (and maybe brothers too!) have someone right in our immediate families to encourage and thank. :)

"As a father pities his children,
So the Lord pities those who fear Him."

    1. Thanks! :D No, it's just a regular old "fake silk" scarf. :)

  2. Soo cute! I had those shorts until they got a bit too short for me (the downside of being tall...) You look adorable!

    1. Thanks! :) Uh-oh! There is is an advantage to being short. I'm only 5'1", so things tend to be longer on me!
