50's Inspired Casual Outfit

It's already Thursday, my friends! Due to certain circumstances (mainly me being easily distracted and having trouble focusing), I didn't get this post up yesterday. I thought Thursday would be a better day anyway. Right? ;) I any case, I'll stop this nonsense and get on to the outfit.

This look was inspired by the casual styles sported by Grace Kelly. Somehow, she had the ability to look beautiful and elegant while wearing the simplest of garb. I tried to mimic her look in the above photo shoot by using a few pieces of my modern wardrobe.
My outfit's base was a pair of pedal pusher pants (finding that definition took a while, so I plan to address short pants in Fashion Defined!). I rolled up the hems to make them more like Grace Kelly's outfit. To these, I added a classic button up shirt with a fun print and folded up the cuffs. To complete my look, I included a pair of ballet flats and a pearl necklace, as well as period inspired hair and makeup. My fun but simple vintage inspired outfit was all ready to go on a summer's day!

On this September 11th, be sure to remember that sad day for America that occurred 13 years ago. Continue to pray that those who mourn will turn to the Lord. May we turn to him
for strength every day.

"God is our refuge and strength,
A very present help in trouble. Therefore we will not fear,
Even though the earth be removed,
And though the mountains be carried into the midst of the sea;"
~Psalm 46:1-2
