Birthday in Mint

Greetings readers! I'm a bit behind in my posting this week - though I actually did have time, I was simply  a bit forgetful. Perhaps it was a combination of the whir of the season as well as my continuing virus (I'm finally starting to feel better today!). In any case, I'm here now! :D

Last Friday, my family hosted a game night at our home that was also a birthday party! I celebrated my twentieth birthday with good fellowship, fun games, and yummy food. Being myself, I just had to wear something cute for the occasion. What can you expect from a fashion blogger? ;)
Happily, I had acquired  just the thing for the occasion not many days before. This darling robin's egg blue blouse is from from one of our local thrift stores. I really like everything about it - its color, retro shape, eyelet details and slender belt say "Paige" all over! The first time I ever tried it on was for this event, and was quite pleased to find that it fit me perfectly. I added a black skirt and black tights, and put my hair up in a messy 60's inspired ponytail to complete the look. Though simple, the ensemble was elegant and party-ready.

Outfit Details: Blouse ~ Thrifted; Skirt ~ Thrifted; Tights~ Winco?; Heels ~ Target?

Do you ever buy clothes without trying them on first? Have you ever been as successful as I was with my blouse or purchased something that did not fit at all?
I'd like to hear about your shopping triumphs and your disasters!

This is the day the Lord has made;
We will rejoice and be glad in it.
Psalm 118:24

  2. Hello Paige

Happy belated Birthday, hope everything you wished on your cake for comes true. And may the lord bless you and keep you close to his heart. Oh the love the outfit!! I hope you get some brighter coloured tights. I find wearing bright colours cheer me up. This is where I buy mine very cheap and colourful.

I actually do have a couple of pairs of colored tights (purple and teal). I tried the teal with this outfit but Mom didn't think it looked quite right. ;) Maybe you'll see my colored tights in an upcoming post!

  4. Happy belated birthday, Paige! I love that top, it's adorable!

I've had good and bad experiences with buying clothes without trying them on. A few dresses I found in antique stores (with no option of a dressing room) have fit perfectly, even though I had a few doubts they may be a tad small. But I've also brought things home, say from a garage sale or thrift store, that I hadn't judged the size correctly and ended up being too small. That's always rather sad. :)

  5. Happy birthday, Paige! May the Lord bless you with a 20th year that exceeds expectations!

I love that mint blouse on you! It fits great and the style is awesome. If I run into a similar one next time I go to the thrift store, I'll be seriously tempted to buy it (wouldn't that be something?!).

Yes, I have bought clothes without trying it on several times at thrift stores, since blouses only cost 50 cents. Sometimes I don't want to spend the time trying them on. Last time I tried that was more or less a disaster though--at least it was a $1.50 contribution to a good cause.

    1. *at the thrift store. At an "expensive" thrift store like Goodwill, I make sure the clothes fit.

  6. Happy Birthday Paige! I love the style of your blouse, especially the buttons and puff sleeves. It's something I would wear as well. I rarely try on any clothes before I buy them. I only try it on clothes that I am buying for special occasions and are expensive.

That makes sense. When I'm at this particular thrift store I only try on things about half the time.
