Sunday Best Silk

Hello there readers! Is your week off to a good start? Mine has begun with my cleaning job yesterday and a little cleaning of my own house today. What better way to start off the week than with freshly vacuumed carpets, eh? ;) Please tell me I'm not the only one who cannot spell "vacuum" without spellcheck....

On Sunday, I wore one of the consignment store finds from our vacation. I've been wanting a tie-neck blouse for a while, and found this one for $4.00 - it is 100% silk! Its billowing sleeves are almost theatrical, but with the right skirt, this blouse has an elegant, retro look. Me finding a pure silk blouse for $4 is just one testament of the "little" things the Lord blesses us with.

For church, I tucked the blouse into a cute checkered skirt that Mom handed down to me. Heeled brown oxfords were the obvious shoe choice. A belt in coordinating colors pulled everything together and helped define my waist. A slick bun updo completed the classy secretary/schoolteacher look.

Well, I am tentatively planning to post this weekend about shopping at and donating to second-hand stores. Is there any ground you would like to see covered in the upcoming post? Let me know in a comment if there is. :)

For you, brethren, have been called to liberty; only do not use liberty as an opportunity for the flesh, but through love serve one another. For all the law is fulfilled in one word, even in this: “You shall love your neighbor as yourself.

  8. 1980s? Ha! I actually couldn't tell that's when it was from, I genuinely thought it was a vintage find from the 40s or 50s! I like this look and I've always wished I could pull it off, but you definitely can! Tie-front blouses are so pretty and work so well on you :)
