Dressy Dinner // You Might Be a Modest Fashionista If...

Greetings all! Perhaps Sunday Best can get back on schedule this week, eh? :) I'm here this Tuesday with an outfit and the modest fashionista list that I said might happen last week...ha! ;)

Last week, I attended a fundraising banquet for our local pregnancy care center. It's a fun event to dress up for, though by no means a black tie affair. After some brainstorming, I came up with a new outfit that was not only appropriate for the dinner, but also something fresh to put on the blog!

My green eShakti dress was the base for this dressy outfit. It doesn't really sport an autumnal shade, but I added some makeup and clothing pieces that gave my look a fall flair. I wore a pretty multi-colored scarf and a sweet brown-black blazer (I finally have a classy blazer that fits!). My cherished black flats finished off the outfit, and looked well with the jacket's dark shade.

You might be a modest fashionista if...

1. It's discouraging to pull out a super cute dress from the rack and then see the cutout in the back.

2. Summer dresses become winter dresses because of all the layering you have to do.

3. You're ready for people to be done with the whole "leggings as pants" thing.

4. The transparency of 21st century clothing is disturbing to you.

5. You've wondered if an item was a skirt, a dress, or a top.

6. You've said "This would be cute if it was longer/higher/had less cut-outs/ect"

7. Shrugs and boleros make certain outfits possible.

8. You or someone you know will put sewing skills to use in altering your clothes to be modest.

9. People have stared at you. Is it admiration or incredulity?

10. You have learned to use secret weapons like safety pins and fashion tape.

Have you ever been to a fundraising dinner?
Would you add anything to the modest fashionista list?

Let your light so shine before men, that they may see your good works and glorify your Father in heaven.

  1. Oh my goodness, yes! All ten of your "you might be a modest fashionista if..." apply to me. Who knew? And #3 annoys me soooo much! Ugh, leggings as pants just shouldn't be a thing. And then you see them in all these bright, weird colors or match the wearer's skin tone and you just have to wonder how in the world someone could leave their house dressed like that . . . ;-P

    1. Haha, I'm glad you enjoyed this post! :D Yes, it's interesting how people will follow whatever is "in". There's nothing wrong with being trendy, just decide if it's something you're comfortable in/is flattering to you first! :)

  2. Heh! I've wondered about #5 on various items at the thrift store!

I really like your outfit Paige! And I've been to dinners with fundraising auctions afterward if that counts...

  3. These are so true! I have often sat and wondered if something was a skirt, dress or top. :( And the leggings as pants thing HAS TO GO!!!!

    1. Yes, it's kind of sad, but you have to laugh! Haha, yeah. It used to be leggings with dresses and tunics, but now if it's a semi-long t-shirt it's okay....I recognize that we all have different standards, but I would personally be uncomfortable. :)

  5. Love your outfit, my friend! So classy and pretty too...the dinner must have been lovely! It is always fun to dress up for an occasion, isn't it...?
And oh my! I agree with number 3 whole-heartedly! Amen, sister! Some girls look good in leggings as pants...but the majority don't (I fit into that 'majority! Hee!)!
Blessings to you, Paige! Have a blessed Wednesday!

    1. Thank you so much! :) It is fun to dress up - one of my specialties. Haha! ;)
Yes, many people have different standards, but I personally wouldn't feel right wearing leggings in the same way I wear jeans.
      You too!

  6. Beautiful outfit Paige! I love your eShakti dress every time I see you wear it!
I would not consider myself a fashionista but I can agree with all 10 of your options. Number 1 especially. I've joked to my sister and friends that dress makers are only allowed a certain amount of material. If they use it to cover the front they have to either make the dress really short or open in the back. If the use it to make the dress long they have to compensate by also making it low! So frustrating!

Hah! That seems to be the case! There's just one good thing about this dress - it actually covers everything I want covered. ;P

  7. Hi, Paige! I agree with you on all 10 of your opinions, especially on number 3. I can't understand why anyone would want to go out in public looking like that. I do want to say that you look as beautiful as ever in your outfit. Paige, you always look so very pretty and cute. You are very talented and sweet. Thank you for your wonderful posts. Hugs and Blessings, Christina

  8. Paige, You look so adorable. I love how you put your dress and added the accessories so perfectly to make it autumn attire. I totally agree with your 10 points specifically #6. So many cute clothes have the unnecessary too low in the front, way to short, or bear back so sad:( Thank you, its so nice to know that I am not the only one that feels that way as well. Blessings, Stephanie M.
