Equestrian Pursuits

Greetings dear readers! Is this a weird time for a post? Yes. Have I been a busy person and unorganized blogger lately? Yes. Will this stop me from posting? No way!
Today's post is about the trail ride Mom and I went on last week, as well as what I wore on the ride. I daresay a few of you out there are at least mildly interested in horses. Some of you might even be certifiably horse crazy. And if you think of them as giant, terrifying beasts with hairy lips...okay, so they kind of are...maybe you can see their good side here. ;)

Above you can see me petting the chestnut mare, Chex, who was to be my mount for the day. Apparently, she is quite the accomplished little lady. I'm not sure she was all on board with listening to this amateur rider, but she took good care of me.

My outfit for the day consisted of a long polo shirt, colorful cardi, jeans, and low-heeled boots. As you can see, I wore a denim jacket over my cardigan once we arrived at the stables. My style factor was diminished, but comfort trumps fashion sometimes. Denim is Western chic, right?!

Outfit Details: Shirt ~ Thrifted; Cardigan ~ Gift; Jacket ~ Thrift or Consignment Store; Jeans ~ Thrift or Consignment Store; Boots ~ Ross

The day's temperature was mild, and we got to see a few bright, autumnal trees as we traversed gravel roads. As we rode, the stable owner offered helpful instructions. We were able to have more control over our horses than on previous trail rides. After about an hour, our ride was over.

King, the horse Mom was riding.

 Do you ever go riding?
Would you like to?

Have you given the horse strength?
Have you clothed his neck with thunder? Can you frighten him like a locust?
His majestic snorting strikes terror.
He paws in the valley, and rejoices in his strength;
He gallops into the clash of arms

  1. Aww! You look so sweet astride your mount, my friend! The mare you rode is so beautiful...I love chestnuts! Okay, so you can probably tell I am indeed quite horse crazy, although I very sadly haven't ridden in years...*sniff* hoping to change that soon, though!
So glad you had a lovely outride with your momma...a wonderful way to spend time together and make memories!
    Hugs to you, Paige!

  2. You look very confident on Chex. We had a quarter horse paint he had white, brown and black coat. His name was Flash. He was a sweet heart but we didn't ride him enough so we gave him to our friends who have more time to ride. We were blessed to have had him in our life. Have a great week! Blessings Stephanie M.

  3. I'm on a farm, and we have 3 large horses and a miniature. I started out dressing nicely for my rides but nowadays end up in a t-shirt in jeans because most of my rides end up as a training rides and I get too yucky! I miss the days of dressing up to ride sometimes, haha! Horses are great, happy you got to go ride!

    1. Thanks Lydia! :) Neat! This was the third trail ride I've been on (the first two were at another location). I ride a dear girlfriend's horse sometimes, perhaps twice a year.
