Birthday Night

   Another birthday has come and gone. I am another year older and hopefully more mature, skilled, and experienced than I was this time last year! Now I am one more year into that most mysterious of decades, "the twenties". Birthdays are strange things; we have them only every twelve months, but that one day goes on to define a part of us for the next twelve.

   On the evening of my birthday, I went to a nice restaurant with my mom, dad, and best friend. I enjoyed a delightful pasta and chicken dish, then went to survey some Christmas decor in another part of the building. We three ladies took a drive to look at Christmas lights, then came home for dessert. A few hours before all this, the afternoon had found me trying to figure out what to wear for my night out...

   After some consulting with Mom and mind-changing on my part, I finally decided on an outfit that had an Edwardian/Victorian flair. Mom, Moriah and I were dressier than most other ladies in the restaurant, as our area tends to keep fashion quite casual. A girl has to dress up for her birthday sometimes though (unintentional Fiddler on the Roof reference)!

  My ensemble's starting piece was a silky floral maxi skirt. After some indecision, I decided to wear it with my dotted black blouse. Over this, I wore a trim blazer (it ended up staying on most of the evening, as I was cold!). I used a shiny black belt to polish the look, and accessorized with a sweet heart and rose cameo necklace that a friend gave me. Completing the outfit were classic black pumps and a green clutch.

Outfit Details: Blouse ~ Thrift or Consignment Store; Tank ~ Thrift or Consignment Store;

What do you like to do for your birthday?
Do people in your area keep things casual or dress up?

 Rejoice always, pray without ceasing, in everything give thanks; for this is the will of God in Christ Jesus for you.

  3. Happy Birthday! You look so beautiful. I love the Maxi skirt. You look so elegant standing next to the
    Christmas tree. I am glad you had a nice dinner and enjoyed the Christmas lights. My Birthday is in March, just in time for the spring flowers to bloom. I love fresh flowers. My husband gave me purple pansies they were so pretty and lasted through to the fall. Blessings Stephanie M.

  7. I'm so glad it looks like you had a good birthday Paige! Love your classy outfit!
    My area definitely is not big into dressing up. Many people just wear their pajamas everywhere. :) I live in one of the most impoverished US states and it's fairly obvious sometimes.

      Oh, okay, that's interesting! Around here you see the occasional pajama pant look, often the hippie look depending on what town or part of town, and more often than not just casual 21st century wear.

  8. You look stunning, Paige! That outfit is definitely beautiful. I'm glad you had a very pleasant birthday, and hope and pray this coming year will be just as delightful!

    Most people around here just look normal--jeans and winter coats this time of year! There are some particularly sloppy dressers, and some particularly classy dressers, but for the most part, it's normal. But...go to a church service and almost everyone dresses up somewhat for church

      Well, that does sound normal. :) It's great that everyone dresses up somewhat for church! The concept of Sunday best seems to have changed in the past 60ish years!

  9. Happy birthday Paige! You look very nice!
    I do dress up for my birthday the last couple years I wore a pretty dress my mama made for her self that fits me. This year I think I'm going to do something different... Something warmer for the cold :-)
