In Floral and Creativity

   Can you believe it!? August first is already here! This year seems to be passing all too quickly. They say "time flies when you're having fun", so I must be enjoying life, right? In any case, having my busiest year yet is definitely making the days fly by with alacrity. :)

   Today, I'm sharing an outfit that features one of my Mom's spectacular sewing jobs. It's a slip extender! Slip extenders are a new way of lengthening and adding pizzaz to shorter dresses and skirts. Mom tried her hand at making one of her own, and the result is this pretty dusty rose and white piece.
  For over a year, I've had this floral dress that is darling, but too short for my personal comfort. I've worn it with leggings, but now with my homemade slip extender I'm quite comfortable in it. A brown t-shirt underneath gave it the rest of the modesty I needed, as well as a cute, layered effect. An embellished orange cardigan - this is another bit of my mum's handiwork - kept me warm and added a fun pop of color. With brown flats, a gold necklace, and vintage flavored hairstyle, my outfit was complete. Altogether, I have a feminine look that seems slightly reminiscent of the turn of the 19th century, though it was completely unplanned!

Dress ~ Paddington Station (Ashland, OR); T-shirt ~ Thrifted; Slip extender ~ Made by Mom;
Cardigan ~ (Thrifted?) Sweater refashioned by Mom; Flats ~ Target?; Hairband ~ Winco; Chain and Pendant ~ Gifts

Does time seem to be passing quickly for you too?
Have you done anything this summer that you've never done before?
Does your outfit ever end up having a retro look without your meaning it to?

   "Sing to the Lord a new song,

And His praise from the ends of the earth,
You who go down to the sea, and all that is in it,

You coastlands and you inhabitants of them!

Let the wilderness and its cities lift up their voice,
The villages that Kedar inhabits.
Let the inhabitants of Sela sing,

Let them shout from the top of the mountains."
~Isaiah 42:10-11

    And I know! Time is flying by way too quickly. I feel as though I haven't even had the opportunity to do any of my favorite summer activities this year (like, say... swimming?). :/

    Though Bek and I have not shared on the blog how we wear tunics yet, we are planning on it. And we really enjoy the extra options it gives in the feminine modesty world! Love it!
