Sunday Lace / Trust in the Lord!

Top o' the weekend to you, ladies! I hope that you have a refreshing Saturday ahead of you. My plans for the day include a birthday party and going to the movies. Tomorrow will be a lovely day celebrating the Resurrection of our great Lord! :) Before all this takes place, though, I have an outfit and some words of encouragement to share with you!

Last Sunday, I wore a new blouse....are you getting tired of me saying that? ;) After spending the past couple of months scouring the local thrift and consignment stores for pretty tops, I have a closet full of feminine clothes that I'm excited to wear. Do you know that delightful feeling of having clothes that you actually really like, instead of those that you just wear because they're what you have?
This pretty pink top is quite the girly number with its lace and ruffles. For church, I wore it with my brown and white short sleeved jacket, tiered maxi skirt, and flats. A pearly alligator clip in my hair was the only accessory I needed with such intricate clothing. :)

Shoes ~ Target; Hair clip ~ Gift

One of the things that the Lord has been teaching me that I would like to share with you is trust. Now, just because it's something I'm been learning does not mean I have mastered it - quite the contrary is true! What I tell you today is what I'm telling myself. It's easy to say "trust in the Lord", but it's hard to do. At this point in my life, (as I'm sure many of you can relate) it is all too easy to start worrying about the future and wondering what I can do to make sure things go well.
However, Proverbs 3:5 tells us to trust in the Lord with all our hearts and not lean on our own understanding. If we read God's word, we see all the things with which we can trust Him. We can trust him with our eternal life (John 10:28-29), we can trust Him with our future (Jeremiah 29:11), we can trust Him with our sanctification (Philippians 1:6), and we can trust Him to forgive us when we confess our sin (1 John 1:9). Nothing is outside His domain, so why do I worry?
And yet, I do...and you do too. We need to be reminded of His faithfulness again and again. If we look to the past we can find encouragement in seeing how God has already helped His children in times past. Just look at the stories of Abraham, David, Ruth and Naomi! Think of the fact that our Lord kept His word and rose from the dead after three days in the grave. Know that He was faithful before and will prove Himself to be so again. Trust.

So, what has the Lord been teaching you lately? What are your plans for this holiday weekend?

"Why seek ye the living among the dead? He is not here, but is risen: remember how he spake unto you when he was yet in Galilee, Saying, The Son of man must be delivered into the hands of sinful men, and be crucified, and the third day rise again."

~Luke 24:5b - 7

  1. Very pretty outfit! That top is beautiful, and it looks really nice with the jacket. I have one very similar to it.
What movie did you go see?
Trusting God is a hard lesson. I can think to myself, "Sure, I trust that God is in control." but do I still worry over things? Yep. This post is a good reminder for me, Thanks!
